Seized $9.3m: Falana Accuses Oritsejafor Of Breaching CAMA Law
Lagos lawyer and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, SAN, on Monday faulted the attempt by the President of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, to wash his hands off the controversy surrounding the use of his private jet to allegedly smuggling $9.3 million cash into South Africa, saying the cleric breached the law.
Although Oritsejafor has denounced the two Nigerians and an Israeli arrested in connection with the money and the purpose of their mission to South Africa, Falana insisted that the influential pastor cannot dismiss the scandal with a wave of the hand, adding, “in recent time, some of our pastors have been indicted in the United Kingdom for investing church funds in business in violation of the Charity Act”.
In a statement issued in Lagos, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria pointed out that the explanation by Oritsejafor that the jet was leased to another company is an admission of the breach of the law.
He said, “A jet registered for the facilitation of evangelism cannot be leased to another company for commercial purposes as churches are registered under part C of the Company and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) as non-profit making organizations.
“If Pastor Oritsejafor is lucky that he is not prosecuted for breaching the CAMA, he owes Nigerians a public apology. The CAN leadership cannot afford to engage in attacking its political opponents in a matter pertaining to the breach of the law”.
Falana, who also noted that the federal government is presently relying on diplomatic resolution of the money laundering case, stressed that such effort will not yield any result.
“Having not learnt any lesson from the disgraceful case of Chief James Ibori, the federal government is currently embroiled in an unnecessary controversy with South Africa over the arrest of two Nigerians and an Israeli for smuggling the sum of $9.3 million into that country.
“The three suspects are alleged to have contravened the provisions of Section 30 of the Financial Intelligence Centre Act NO 38 of 2001 of South Africa which stipulates that a person intending to convey an amount of cash in excess of the prescribed sum of $10,000.00 to or from South Africa must report the prescribed particulars concerning that conveyance to a person authorized by the minister for this purpose”

Ebola: Fashola Challenges Iwu To Reopen Research On Bitter Kola Theory
Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, (SAN) on Monday promised to provide funds for any research work on the Ebola Virus disease.
Fashola made the promise while disbursing grants to 31 beneficiaries whose research proposal had been approved by the Lagos State Research and Development Council.
The governor used the occasion to challenge a former chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Maurice Iwu, to come up with a lucid proposal on his bitter kola theory for the cure of Ebola, saying the state government would be willing to provide funds for his research.
He explained that professors, Ph.D. holders and scholars are respected not because of their glittering titles but because of their intellect and what they have to offer the society.
The governor said, “I was curious about what was Prof. Maurice Iwu was doing with election if he was already doing research on how bitter kola can help cure some diseases. He should come back and do his work because really this is his core competence and if he is listening to me, I am challenging him that he will be able to reopen the frontiers of that research and present it to this organization.
“It is something that I am sure that we would be looking at. For me, our world is moving quickly and we must participate in it. We must be visible and active theatre of thinking and ideas”.
Fashola expressed regrets that when the country was faced with the problem of Ebola, none of the much talked about probable solutions came from Nigeria or Africa as a whole, noting that such a trying time presented opportunities for researchers and scholars to write their names in the good book of history.
“If you look at the last epidemic challenge that we faced, all the offers and solutions, ZMapp, Dan and all of the possible drugs were coming from the outside Africa where we have the problem itself and there are scientists here who carry all sorts of titles”, Fashola stated

Mother’s finger amputated after being bitten by ‘false widow’ spider
A British mum was just hours from death after a bite from a ‘false widow’ spider which led to her finger being amputated – and left her unable to work as a hairdresser.
Andrea Wallace, 44, was bitten when she rolled into long grass in County Durham as she played with her son Shay.
After two hours, fang marks appeared on her hand. It doubled in size and started oozing black pus, and a red line spread up her side as poison travelled towards her heart.
She said: ‘The pain was horrific. I have given birth to four boys and this pain was way worse.
My finger was cracking open and had went a dark grey colour as though it was dead. I could not believe a spider had done this to me.’
Doctors told Walllace she had contracted the flesh-eating disease necrotising fasciitis from the spider’s mandibles.
Medical staff said that if she had waited any longer before travelling to A&E the infection would have reached her heart and killed her.
Wallace spent ten weeks in hospital and had 14 operations to remove the poison, transplant skin onto the area, and finally amputate.
Wallace said, ‘When I found out it was a spider bite I couldn’t believe it. I was gobsmacked.
‘I had never seen the spider or felt it at the time. But somehow it had passed the flesh eating germ on to me and it was eating away at my skin.’
Wallace was told there was a chance she could die or lose her hand.
After attempts to rebuild her finger with skin from her leg failed, doctors told Wallace her finger would have to be amputated.
Wallace, who is mum to Lewis, 23, Jay, 16, Shay, 10 and Kale, four, said: ‘I am not the kind to feel sorry for myself. It was not until one day after the operation that I finally compared my two hands and broke down in tears.’
Andrea, who is now missing her index finger and has lost 20% of the grip in her left hand, is unable to return to her job as a hairdresser.
She said: ‘Losing a finger is a small price to pay when you think of what could have happened to me. Now I drum it in to my children to stay away from spiders.’

Obasanjo Enrols For PhD At NOUN
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has enrolled for a Master of Arts (MA) and PhD degrees at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). He registered to study Christian Theology in the School of Arts and Social Sciences.
Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Vincent Tenebe stated that although admission and registration in universities were not usually announced or celebrated, but for a special case like this, it is allowed. Obasanjo however urged the management of the institution to treat him like any other student. Although he said he recognised the role of courtesy in his case, but he said he would be more comfortable being treated like an ordinary student.
The 77-year-old explained why he decided to register at NOUN when he first did years ago.
“Primary, to acquire knowledge, particularly in Christian Theology, not because I want to be a pastor but rather, to know God more and be able to serve Him better.
“Secondly, I wanted to make a statement that no matter one’s age or position, there should be no barrier to continuous learning.
“Thirdly, I wanted to showcase this university, knowing full well that this country will at no foreseeable future be able to provide adequate access to millions of Nigerians who are yearning for knowledge,” he said.
Obasanjo, who graduated with the first group of students in January 2009, therefore called on Nigerians seeking for knowledge to consider enrolling at NOUN. He said NOUN is by no means inferior to the conventional universities.
He also urged the alumni of the university to try their best to support the school.
Tenebe commended Obasanjo for resuscitating NOUN, as part of numerous efforts by his administration to develop education in Nigeria. He described Obasanjo as a leader to be emulated for his quest to see Nigeria develop through the use of new technology in education.
Obasanjo’s enrolment in NOUN, according to Tenebe has boosted student population; which had increased from 16,000 in 2010 to 308,000 in 2014 with over 150,000 active students.
Tenebe pleaded with the federal government to start allowing NOUN law graduates for study at the Nigerian Law School. He also asked that other graduates of the university be allowed to participate in the National Youth Service Corps scheme.

He becomes the tenth United player on the sidelines and joins the likes of Marouane Fellaini, Phil Jones and Chris Smallings; just to name a few.

“Ander Herrera sustained a fractured rib during the match against West Ham United on Saturday. The club will continue to monitor his progress over the next few weeks,” the club said in a statement.
The news comes as a huge setback for the Dutch boss, who already will be without the services of club captain Wayne Rooney throughout the month of October, following the England striker’s straight red against the Hammers.
A minor relieve at the moment is the return of defender Tyler Blackett from suspension for Sunday’s league game against Everton at Old Trafford.

Ganja Nation Ghana Becomes Number One Indian Hemp Smoking Country
Nigeria's neighbour, Ghana, has been confirmed as the
country with the highest number of Indian Hemp
smokers in the world.
Nigeria's neighbour, Ghana, has made a most notorious
history as it has beaten the likes of Jamaica and USA to
become the country with the most Indian Hemp smokers in
the world.
According to a survey conducted by World Drug Report, the
West African nation was named as the world ' Igbo » '
smoking leaders with 2.8 million Ghanaians out of about the
25,000,000 million population being active weed smokers
and likely to get high on a daily basis, a whopping 11.2% of
the populace.
In the report carried by Ghanaian top website, OMG
Ghana, » other countries that came under the same study
included Jamaica, USA, Nigeria and the Netherlands but
none of these countries came close to the former Gold Coast
in terms of daily weed takers.
The report has it that while usage in the U.S. rose after some
marijuana legalization began in 2012, it’s still under 10%.
Ghana still comes out on top even though marijuana
consumption is illegal in the country.
OMG Ghana took a look at the national culture that has
made Ghanaians the world’s top weed smokers:
The weed scene in Ghana
Similar to most African countries, marijuana is actually
illegal in Ghana, but seems to be openly acceptable by
the new generation. Smoking weed in high schools and the
university is considered ‘cool’.
The area boys who are known to smoke ganja are
typically regarded as the ‘cool kids on the block’, and
are generally respected by the community they reside.
Weed in Ghana is very cheap
Indian hemp is verycheap in Ghana as compared to
other nations, and this makes even those with virtually
no source of livelihood to get easy access to the drug. There
are generally three grades available: “Marri” is low-quality,
“polli” is medium-grade and “riger” is the top-shelf stuff, and
they cost varying amount of money.
Where Ghanaians get their weed
The ‘BUSH’ in the local communities are notoriously
known as the ‘ganja’ spots. Most of the smoking is done
outside in the bush. It’s very, very warm in Ghana, and
thankfully, there are many small hut-and-bench combos,
which allow for cool breezes to flow over you while hiding
from the ever-present glaring sun.
The Narcotics Control Board boss is open to legalization
The Executive Secretary of the Narcotics Control Board,
(NACOB), Yaw Sarpong, can see some wisdom in the
legalisation of cannabis sativa because increasingly,
ordinary people do not think that possessing the mentally-
disturbing substance is a crime.
Why Ghanaians love weed more than other people

finally found a way to positively influence the public or
Ghanaians simply know how to fun better than everyone
else.

Step Aside Guys Lagos Train 80 Female LAGBUS Drivers
The Lagos State government has shown that what a
man can do, a woman can equally do, so they have gone
ahead to employ female drivers in its LAGBUS fleet.
The saying that what a man can do, a woman can do even
better seems to be playing out in the Center of Excellence,
as the Lagos State Government has reportedly employed 80
female drivers to be part of its Lagos Bus Asset Management
Company, LAGBUS » , team, or better known in local
parlance, BRT » .
This move, according to the LAGBUS General Manager for
Fleet Operations, Seyi Osiyemi, is to empower the female
folks who have what it takes to drive the buses while also
checking the excesses of the male drivers who are said to be
reckless, dare-devil and careless. The move is also aimed at
encouraging women to have interest in driving the LAGBUS
buses.
We employed the female drivers to encourage the
women who have interest in driving the LAGBUS buses.
These 80 female have started their training on driving
from the basics. These ladies do not have driving
experience. We will first train them on how to drive car.
After that, they will graduate to smaller buses; after which
they will learn how to drive the big bus.
We expect this process to take between 3- 6 months.
The ultimate plan is to have them driving the LAGBUS,
the red bus.
It takes a lot of time for people to embrace it. We had
about 200 women who filled application forms, so we
short-listed and started with these first 80.
We are also recruiting more males because we are
refurbishing 180 buses which will be added to the fleet.

with me because I had never had sex before then.
The following day, I reported to one of his two wives
who was a nurse and she promised to ask him, but I
don’t know whether she eventually did.
In March, 2014, he did the same thing again and I ran to
his second wife’s house and reported to her. She asked
me to swear to an oath with a bible but I refused since I
knew I was saying the truth. I started sleeping in her
apartment.
In April, he came to tell me to return to his apartment
to do some things for him but I refused to go. His wife
however put pressure on me to answer my father’s call since
he wanted me to do some things for him at home. I followed
him after much pressure.
Unfortunately for me, on Saturday preceding Easter
celebration, precisely on April 18, he had sex with me
again. All the while, I did not know I was pregnant. I had my
last menstruation in December 2013.
My stepmother suspected I was pregnant and took me
to one Mrs. Aremu who confirmed the pregnancy. The
case was reported at the police station and I started living
with my paternal grandfather until I fell into labour. My
mother wanted the pregnancy to be aborted but the doctor
said he could not do it.
After I was delivered of the baby and my grandfather
was told that the baby has a striking resemblance with
my father, he ran away and has not been seen since then.
Since the confirmation of the pregnancy, the DPO and
the DCO were the ones who purchased baby things and
other items that I would need during and after delivery.
They also paid my hospital bill. I now stay with my mother
and she is helping me to take care of the baby.

Segun Oderinde, comes from the Oderinde family in Gboro
Compound, Igbeti, Olorunsogo Local Government area of
Oyo State and right now, the randy father is nowhere to be
found as he has developed wings and bolted.
The girl who narrated her ordeal, said her father was in the
habit of flexing his muscles on her every other night despite
the fact that he has two other wives and that led to the
pregnancy » that produced the baby boy which has been
named Boluwatife, which means 'As God wills'.
This is how the poor girl narrated her story:

Fayose Pleads Innocent, Calls On NJC To Probe Ekiti Judicial Crisis
Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr. Ayodele Fayose has urged the National Judicial Council to as a matter of urgency, investigate the allegation levelled against him that he was involved in last Monday’s beating of a serving judge in the state.
The investigation, he said, would open a can of worms in the state judiciary.
Fayose argued that it would be wrong for Nigerians to swallow hook, line and sinker the lies being spread on the issue by the All Progressives Congress, APC, which has already called for his arrest and prosecution over his alleged role in the crisis currently rocking Ekiti State.
Speaking in a calm tone, Fayose said he was begging the NJC to look at all issues at stake dispassionately and be guided by the truth.
The governor-elect, who spoke with journalists in Abuja on Monday, said all the news about him fomenting troubles in the state was just a part of what he described as a grand plan by the APC to cause crisis in the state with a view to forestalling his inauguration come October 16.
He said, “What I’m saying, is that the National Judicial Council should launch a thorough probe of the happenings in Ekiti State judiciary and through that, the rot in the system will be exposed.
“A lot of things are happening there and there are signs that some judicial officers are conniving with the outgoing governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and the APC.
“The current crisis is an agenda of the APC and their sole aim is to try and get through the back door what the people of the state did not give them on June 21 when they voted overwhelmingly for me and the Peoples Democratic Party”.
He said as former governor and a responsible person, there was no way he could have raised his hand to beat a judge, adding that he was not even capable of raising his hand against his house help.
Fayose said he was being portrayed in negative light in order to create the impression that he is a bad person.
He said, “I did not and cannot slap a judge. I cannot slap a house boy let alone a High Court Judge, and I have utmost respect for judicial officers.
“The media propaganda that I beat up a judge is an APC agenda to portray me in bad light having failed to take my mandate through the back door.
“The Ekiti State Attorney General Wale Fapounda has disclosed that he has spoken with the judge in question, and he spoke on Sunrise programme on Saturday morning on Channels TV where he made it clear that the news that I slapped the Judge was all lies.
“I did not enter Justice John Adeyeye’s court because I had no business to transact there. The Tribunal venue, where I went to, is quite a distance from Adeyeye’s court. Then the pertinent question is, at what point did I meet him?
“Is it that the Judge left his courtroom with his robe to face so called protesters? Investigation will reveal all these”.
He said up till now, “nobody has been able to provide photo or video evidence that I slapped the judge”, adding that “there was no way I would succumb to blackmail and surrender the mandate that was freely given to me by the people of the state”.
The governor-elect noted that PDP leaders were aware of the various petitions written to the NJC by APC leaders in Ekiti, saying only a thorough investigation would reveal the truth.
He also stated that the actions and utterances of Fayemi in recent times, showed a collaboration between him and some judicial officers.
He said, “For the information of all, I am openly expressing my readiness to appear before the committee to be set up by the NJC even after I must have been sworn in, to testify on the issue if need be.
“The whole issue I can say with all intent was part of a grand plan by the APC to cause mayhem and through it, install the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly as Acting Governor which the people of Ekiti has seen through, and are ready to stop at all cost”

‘My father died because of an extra-marital affair’ Fela Durotoye shares emotional story
In an emotional interview with Samuel Olatunji of iCampus, motivational speaker, author, CEO of Visible Impact (Management consulting firm) and husband of make-up entrepreneur Tara Durotoye, Fela Durotoye opens up for the first time about how his professor father left his mum for a nursing student and died just as he was about to leave his mistress and reconcile with his wife. The woman later confessed (after running mad) that she killed his father. Read what Fela said below…
My father died because of an extra-marital affair. He had a great marriage but at one point in time he cut it off and left his home, few years later he died. He even died some days to when he was supposed to return home to my mother. He died a mysterious death because the lady said, if I will not have you, nobody will. Few years later, the woman ran insane and was saying all over that she killed my father. So now that I’ve seen what a strange woman can do to a man, it makes sense to stay in one place so I don’t put so many life at stake.
He died in 1982, I was 11 years old. It was so devastating because he went beyond just being my father, he was my best friend. He left home in 1977. I must have been six years old. He was gone for five years. It was at the point where he was trying to get back to his wife that he died in 1982. I never knew what it was like to be a child because my father never treated me like one. I was also his best friend, he used to relate with me like an adult . Even when he left my mum at Ife and was at Ibadan, I used to go to Ibadan every weekend. My relationship with him blossomed till he died. He would send his driver to come and pick me up every weekend. I had to learn how to deal with seeing him and the other woman if I wanted to enjoy my dad. But I was always the centre of attraction every weekend I was with him. The woman was not a major thing I will deal with because my father would give us total attention. Before the separation, my father was a professor in physiology while my mother was a lecturer in Geology.
After he left the University of Ife, he went to set up consultancy firm in medical equipment and so on. My mum remained a professor at Ife. My mum was one of those amazing human beings that you can ever imagine. I cannot tell you how she did it but you can be such that it was God that helped her. And the most difficult part was that watching a man you of loved die in your hands. By the time my father was dying, my mum was right there. He died with his heads in her hands. I do not know how anybody would have done that. Many times my mum said maybe she should not have let him go. She always says that if she knew that the end of the matter would have been that way, she would have followed him with the other woman, she would never let him go. I do not think that my father followed the other woman willingly, it was programmed. It wasn’t natural. I don’t think that he was in his total senses. His siblings were so upset with him, they had to leave him. We should not have allowed him to go into the hands of the devourer.
He used to tell me, don’t worry it is all going to be alright. Meaning that we are all coming back as family. I could see that he always wanted to go back home. His death was one of the most difficult things I had to overcome.
My mum had traveled on sabbatical to Belgium and at one point my father was passing through Belgium. And they had a very short meeting and who knew maybe the signal of the remote control did not get to Belgium. I think somehow the love was rekindled and there was a gentleman, Rev. Faniku who was also in Belgium at that time. He took it upon himself and work on it for almost a year and my dad was almost back to his senses. My mum is incredible brilliant and beautiful. There was no basis for comparison with the other woman who was a nursing student.
Then he fell ill with diabetes but there was no record of diabetes in our linage. He feels sick on Wednesday and died on Sunday morning. He just finished a meeting with my mother and he told the other lady that my mum was coming back home that she has to leave. She told him if she will not have him than nobody will (kaka kekumajesese, afisawadanu). By evening he had come down with a flu. By Monday he was already really sick, by Tuesday he was in the hospital and my Wednesday he was dead.
I have never talked about my dad like this before, I don’t know why I am doing it with you. You must be very special. I learnt that no matter how gifted you are, your destiny can be truncated by a woman. I saw the joy of a successful marriage and I saw the pain of an unsuccessful one. I choose i will go for the joy of a successful marriage. Before my wife and i got married we went to pray and tell God that none of the things that happened in our parent’s marriage would happen in ours. We have tried so far.
Before the separation, they won the couple of the year award twice on campus. My father was an incredible brilliant man. He was the youngest professor in Nigeria as at when he became a professor in 1976. He was 35 or 36. My mum was beauty and brain. They were the happiest couple you can never imagine together.
A mistake of falling for a nursing student who was not even in his department caused all sort of troubles

Tonto Dikeh Sympathizes With T.B. Joshua Over His Building Collapse
Nollywood actress, Tonto Dikeh has sent her sympathies to the SCOAN Pastor, Pastor T.B Joshua and his church over the devastating collapse of one of his buildings which resulted in the death of about 115 people.
Tonto Dikeh also credited the pastor for helping her quit her smoking addiction of 14 years. She said:
“I was watching a program on TV with Prophet T.B. Joshua and he was laying hands on people and praying for them. I love to watch his programs on Emmanuel TV. When he was praying, he said, ‘Lay your hands on the TV’ and I just laid my hands that day. I actually needed something else from God, not to quit smoking because I loved smoking! However, after praying I sat back and I think I slept off.”When I woke up, I took a stick of cigarette and I felt crazy. I couldn’t even imagine that I took it up to smoke in the first place. It felt like poison!

Jonathan Places Designer Of Nigerian Flag On N4.7m Per Annum Salary For Life
78-year-old designer of the Nigerian flag, Pa Taiwo Akinkunmi, has been placed on a salary equivalent to that of a Special Assistant for life by President Goodluck Jonathan.
Nigeria adopted the flag, Akinkunmi’s entry in a competition held in 1959, ahead of the 1960 independence day. He was a 23-year-old student studying at Norwich Technical College in England.
“I won a prize of a hundred pounds. The presentation was carried out at the Nigerian embassy in London. And it has been in use since then,” he told Thisday in an interview last year.
He said at the time that 54 years after he designed the flag, he was yet to be recognized or given national honour.
“The only time I was remembered was in 2010 when Nigeria celebrated her Golden Jubilee. I was among the 50 nominees that President Goodluck Jonathan presented with a Gold Medal and a certificate,” he said.
President Jonathan has however honoured the man many believe should have been honoured many years ago.
According to the 2010 Consolidated Salary Structure for top federal public office holders, Pa Akinkunmi is expected to earn at least N4,697,068 per annum.

Adamawa Attacked Again By Boko Haram, 500 Houses Destroyed
While reports of insurgents surrendering from Nigeria to Cameroon raised hope the country was winning the war against terrorism, recent attacks by Islamist sect Boko Haram on Kubi and Watu villages of Michika local government area of Adamawa state shows there is much more to be done to end insurgency in Nigeria.
At least 500 houses were destroyed in the two communities as the terrorists are in full control of Michika and Madagali local governments of Adamawa state, reports say.
“Since the complete take-over of Michika and Madagali by the insurgents on the 7th of September 2014, no single soldier is noticed in Michika Community. The only thing we hear is Jet fighters that come from Yola to drop bombs and go back. Our people are in the state of complete helplessness ,” Vanguard quoted local villagers as saying in a telephone interview.
“Government seems not to be coming to our aids as the insurgents control everything in our local government,” they lamented.
Angered by the way the government seemed to have abandoned them, the villagers alleged that the hometown of the Chief of Defence Staff, Air marshal Alex Badeh, Vimtim, has however enjoyed huge military presence.
They therefore called on the government to urgently send help in form of troops to the affected areas, if not for anything, to make the people of the area feel that Nigeria has not forgotten them.
The people of Michika slammed Adamawa State political class for abandoning them at this trying period.
“Adamawa state Acting Governor, Alhaji Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Senator Bindow Jibrilla representing Adamawa Northern Zone, Member house Reps, for Michika and Madagali Federal Constituency, Mr Tistsi Gana our member in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Mr Adamu Kamale have all not been of any assistance to us since the take over of Michika by the insurgents on the 7th of September,” the villagers alleged.

32-year-old Chinedu Nweke has been arrested for beheading 45-year-old Philomina Nwega in Ebonyi State. Nweke claimed he committed the heinous crime to avenge the serial r*pe of his wife by men in the murdered woman’s village.
According to Sunday Sun, the horrible incident happened on September 6th in Umuzeoka village in Ezza North LGA of Ebonyi State. Recounting the bizarre tale, Nweke, a farmer, said men from the village had defiled his wife severally, alleging that the repeated vicious act led to a miscarriage.
“I am a farmer. Villagers defiled my wife severally. And it made my wife to have miscarriage anytime she was pregnant. I never complained about this problem to the police. It was on September 6, in the evening that I saw a woman coming from the farm. I waylaid her and I used my cutlass to kill her. I cut off her head which I dumped alongside her lifeless body into the Ogbor stream. I cut her head into pieces and threw them into the stream.
Obviously this guy is sick in the head. How are you going to kill an innocent women over an alleged r*pe of another woman? Continue…
It was at Umezeoka that the people defiled my wife and that was where I killed the woman. Each time my wife was defiled I bought drugs for her but I didn’t report the incident to anybody, not even to the village head or the traditional ruler.”
When a report was made to the police about the death of the woman, a search was conducted by a combined team of the police and the local vigilance group in Achiagu, Ezza North LGA, where the suspect, Nweke, was arrested with a blood-stained machete and clothes on September 7th.
Nweke confessed to the police that he killed the woman and dumped her corpse in the stream along with the head.
Dikko said the headless body was later recovered and taken to the mortuary of the Ebonyi State University Teaching Hospital, Abakaliki. The Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, Mrs Justina Ogbodo also told Sunday Sun that detectives had recovered the machete allegedly used by Nweke to kill the woman.
ACP Ogbodo said the command was still finding it difficult to recover the severed head, which Nweke claimed to have thrown into the stream.
While the police continue with the interrogation of the suspect, the husband of the deceased, Mr. Bartholomew Nwega said his primary headache is seeing the severed head of his late wife recovered so that she could be given honourable burial. In a broken voice that belied his grief, he said: “I am pleading with the police to help me recover the head of my dead wife.”

3 students shot and in criticial condition after gunmen storm ESUT
Three students of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT), Agbani, are in critical condition at the the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) after being shot and wounded by suspected armed bandits who invaded their hostel, The Nation reports.
The affected students are currently undergoing intensive surgery at the hospital where they were rushed to in the early hours of Saturday. One of the students was shot in the stomach and it was suspected that some pellets of the bullet were lodged in his abdomen for which doctors are battling to remove.
The two other victims were also undergoing surgery at the hospital while efforts were being made to contact their parents.
The Unique Hostel where the incident occurred and other hostels within the Agbani Permanent site of the university, according to sources, have been placed under security watch as it was suspected that the gunmen could be members of a secret cult.
To forestall a reprisal attack, the source said, the management had taken measures to beef up security at the hostels with plain-clothe policemen deployed to strategic locations.
Police spokesman, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the armed attack said that preliminary investigations revealed that the gunmen could be “student robbers”, assuring that the police would do everything possible to get to the root of the matter.
He could not say if any arrest had been made but he said that the command was already on top of the situation and would give further details after the ongoing investigations.
“From what we gathered when the gunmen attacked some students at the ESUT Unique Lodge, which is mainly Boys Hostel, there was a stiff resistance by the students who succeeded in arresting one of the gunmen. The arrested gunman alerted his armed colleagues who returned to the hostel and began shooting indiscriminately during which three of the students were shot and wounded,” the police spokesman said.

Kumuyi Refuses To Comment On $9.3m, Leaves It To “Those With Details”
General Overseer of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor W.F. Kumuyi, has declined to talk about the alleged $9.3 million dollars seized in South Africa after it was ferried there by two Nigerians and an Israeli in a jet owned by President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor.
While several clerics, including Catholic Bishops in the country have exonerated Oritsejafor, Kumuyi refused to comment on the issue of the money said to be meant for arms purchase, saying he does not have enough information on the matter.
Apparently avoiding being held to any quote, Kumuyi told newsmen in Makurdi that “I will not comment on something I do not have the details. I leave that in the hands of capable persons who have the details.”
Comments from several quarters have been aired with caution over the arms deal, while others have been blunt with their views, including former Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Olubunmi Okogie and Senate Minority Leader, George Akume.
In an interview with the New Telegraph newspapers, Okojie has described Oritsejafor’s “unrighteous” quest to remain in power and his “romance” with politicians as what caused his fall and derailed CAN.
“My brother, I must tell you this; CAN leadership today is zero. CAN has no leader,” he said.
“Thank God you are talking to one of the founders of CAN, and I was there as their leader for eight years. Then, the whole country knew that CAN had a leader, not by my own might, but by God.
Akume als aired his displeasure saying: “I wish to express my utmost dismay and anger over how hard Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the President of CAN is working to destroy the little credibility that is left of this once glorious organization.
“Still trending a clearly criminal, immoral and unethical act is being white washed with religious grandstanding,” a statement by the Senator had said.
After successfully avoiding comments on the arms deal, the Deeper Life G.O. advised Christians to go into politics, but reminded them of how important it was to ensure they remain good ambassadors of Christ in any profession they find themselves, including politics.
Kumuyi who told reporters he was in Benue State for a three-day revival programme, called on people to imbibe huility and also seek the face of God so that God will heal the land.
He also called for people to be educated on peaceful co-existence in order to reduce crime, adding that those who act against the laws of the land should be left in the hands of the judiciary.

Synagogue miracles are not fake – T.B Joshua releases statement
You know how one incident can destroy everything you’ve worked hard for all your life? Well, that’s what’s happening to Pastor T.B Joshua now. He has come under severe criticism and scrutiny following the collapse of a building inside his church premises that left more 115 people dead. Now, many people believe his miracles are not real. Yesterday, a South African journalist published a report where he rubbished all the miracles that supposedly happens at the Synagogue Church of All Nations.
“I challenged the pilgrims to provide me with medical proof that they had been healed. None did.” journalist Jacques Pauw wrote..
The church has reacted to the published report via their Facebook page, claiming that all their miracles are 100% real because they were performed before the church and broadcast live via their Emmanuel TV. See their statement after the cut…
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM THE SCOAN
The SCOAN released a public statement yesterday, September 26, 2014 regarding a false story published in The Vanguard Newspaper, “Synagogue: We Sealed Off Building Before Collapse – LSBCA” which was a total fabrication intended to divert people’s attention from the issue at hand. The writer needs to be investigated concerning the building collapse.
To our surprise, a cover story with even greater fabrications was published today, September 27, 2014 in The Saturday Vanguard, “Are T.B. Joshua’s Miracles Real?” The writer(s) fabricated names of people who do not exist and remained nameless and faceless in order to hide their evil intentions. They need to be investigated.
It is our belief that these stories were intended to divert people’s attention from the evil that has been done. Those involved in these stories need to be investigated concerning the building collapse. If they are not directly involved, they will help the investigation. If they are not the ones who did it, they know those who did. Perhaps, they were involved in the building collapse because they claim what is happening in The SCOAN is fake. They are suspect.
Please note, all of The SCOAN services are public and broadcast live on Emmanuel TV.
Do not be misled and diverted from the truth. No matter how long a lie is sustained, the truth will someday prevail. Jesus is the Truth.

Fayose didn’t slap Justice Adeyeye, but he supervised his beating – Ekiti Attorney General says
The Attorney General of Ekiti state, Wale Fapohunda, was a guest on Channels TV Sunrise programme this morning where he spoke about what happened at the Ekiti state High Court on Thursday September 25th where a judge was assaulted
According to Fapohunda, Justice Adeyeye told him when they spoke on phone that he was never slapped by Ayo Fayose but that the governor-elect supervised his beating.
“When I spoke to the judge, the judge did not say that the governor-elect slapped him. He said he supervised his beating. The judge said he (Fayose) was there, and was standing while his thugs, for want of a better word, beat the judge. Not only did they beat him up, they tore his clothes.” Fapohunda said.
He said Justice Adeyeye told him that immediately they arrived in court for the election tribunal sitting, Fayose’s supporters began ransacking the court rooms, tearing court documents. It was when he went to meet Fayose to ask him to control his supporters that he was physically assaulted.

Cardinal Okogie calls out Ayo Oritsejafor, says CAN has no leader
In an explosive interview with Sahara Reporters, Cardinal Olubunmi Okogie, the first President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, and former Archbishop of Lagos, shared his thoughts on the current leadership of CAN. He said the Christian body has no leadership and that Pres. Jonathan and Pastor Oritsejafor deserve to be sued over the recent $9.3m South African arms deal scandal. He also said the President Jonathan doesn’t deserve a second term. Excerpts from his interview below…
“We have to be praying for this kind of people, for them to have a change of heart. What are they looking for with jet? Another one said, “Jesus said go into the whole world and evangelize, so how can I go into the whole world, with what? I need a plane to be able to go to the whole world.” Even the devil can quote scripture. But did Jesus Christ say you should go and steal to go and buy plane? But now they are claiming that they were given the jets as gifts. But why can’t they spend that money on the poor? There are many Nigerians who are begging that they have nothing to eat, and yet you say you’re preaching. Preaching for what? Are there no pastors where they are going? May God not punish us according to our sins.
Do you think the government should consider negotiating with Boko Haram?
My own opinion is this: When you talk of Boko Haram, who are they? How can you say you are going to negotiate with a nebulous group? They have not declared their identity. Are you going to be talking to the air? The people you want to negotiate with, who are they? Have they even given you their own terms? You can’t know or see them because they are nebulous people.
And if you’re bold enough they will come and kill you. And you yourself, you need to know what you are negotiating for? Did you offend them? You are just sitting down and somebody tells you to quit. Look at all the innocent people they have killed, and taken innocent people (Chibok girls) hostage, and there is supposed to be a governor in that place. What was the governor doing, if he has no hand in it? If I were the Head of State, he would be the first person I would arrest.
Where do they (Boko Haram) get their arms from? How did they enter? There are many questions to be answered. And then you are now talking of negotiation. For what? What if they say for negotiation the Head of State should quit? Will he be ready to quit? Or what if they say government should give them so and so people in exchange for the Chibok girls, what kind of negotiation is that? To me, I don’t buy it at all.
Do you think the current leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) is actually acting like an arm of the federal government or an appendage of the PDP as some critics say?
My brother, I must tell you this; CAN leadership today is zero. CAN has no leader. Thank God you are talking to one of the founders of CAN, and I was there as their leader for eight years. Then, the whole country knew that CAN had a leader, not by my own might, but by God. Because what we were doing then, we had only one voice. But the problem we have now is that people are struggling for power in unrighteous way.
And because he is struggling for power, he can do little or nothing. Power doesn’t come like that. Look at David in the Scriptures. Look at Solomon. Even look at Herbert Macaulay and other early nationalists. You don’t force yourself to power. This is what is happening. Somebody is telling you that if you don’t allow him to rule, you will not rule well. So the person struggling for power is not going to do better. Now, election is coming in 2015 and some people are already saying they must be there. They will not allow the electorate to decide.
They are ready with their moneybags. Where did they get the money from? Where did they get the $9.3m that has been seized by South Africa from? They said it was to buy arms. We have to be very careful in this nation. What is the man (Oritsejafor) looking for? If you call yourself a man of God, then you should rely on God. Why should he be jumping up and down? But because he was not elected, not chosen by God, that is what is happening. Today, he wants to build a university, tomorrow he wants to be something else, next tomorrow he wants to be like other people.
Then why is he there as CAN president? In our day and time, election was done by the groups and we know how we go about it. I think I ruled for two terms, eight years. If there was any trouble anywhere in the country, they would come to the centre. And it wouldn’t take time. We would just come to the centre and solve it and I will speak out and the whole nation would listen. Sometimes, you would hear people say, “Has Okogie spoken?” “What did Okogie say?” There was unity, because that’s what we are looking for.
And we didn’t buy the position. But this time around, because they are rushing to be in power, nobody obeys them. And look at how they are making mockery of themselves and making mockery of “religion”. Is that religion? Today, they are with the federal government. We saw the writing on the wall when we left. The very first person that took over started romancing with Obasanjo. Then one or two CAN presidents tried their best before it got to this present CAN president, Oritsejafor. This is not right. Look at how Oritsejafor has fallen, from grace to grass.
And he is not going down alone, he is also staining the name of the Head of State. Of course, why not? If you eat with those with dirty hands, then you must be dirty. And this is the man that they are saying should come and rule the nation for a second term. They think people are stupid. They have not even answered about this $9.3m, and when the matter got to the House of Reps, they said they should throw it out. Can you imagine? Are they not the ones making laws on money laundering? And this is a case of real money laundering. These are lawmakers.
And they say throw it out, we will not entertain any discussion on this $9.3m matter. Can you imagine! You can imagine that these are the kind of people we have in the National Assembly. And then of course, the relationship between Nigeria and South Africa is strained. Look at the T.B. Joshua building collapse affair, and they think all South Africans are stupid. Just watch and see what comes out of these two affairs. These are bad signs. Tomorrow now, they will say Nigeria is the giant of Africa and the economy of Nigeria is booming, with mouth. The Head of State is a PDP man and he (Oritsejafor) is linked with this rubbish. So what other proof do you want that CAN has now become an appendage of the PDP?
So do you feel now that President Jonathan and Oritsejafor have a case of money laundering to answer?
Of course, they have. In fact, if I have a lawyer, I would sue them. And I am telling you that I will win. If you can tell me that if I carry huge sums of money without declaring it, that you will arrest me for money laundering, then what is this one. They were carrying all that money and it was not declared. It is a clear case of money laundering. Yet, they are the ones making laws against money laundering.
The report that the aircraft which flew some Nigerians and an Israeli to South Africa allegedly to purchase arms belongs to Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has once again revived the debate about the propriety of ministers of God owning private jets. What is your view about this episode?
As far as I am concerned, why are they men of God? I asked one so-called religious leader, and you know what he told me? He said, “My God is a rich God. So if yours is a poor God, that’s your business.” Imagine! So you can even see that this one can’t be called a man of God. And these are the people that tell you they can work miracles, that they have a direct telephone line to God.
They say they can do this, they can do that, and God is watching all of us. If it were to be in the Old Testament, they would all have been struck down by God. But God is a patient God. We have to be praying for this kind of people, for them to have a change of heart. What are they looking for with jet? Another one said, “Jesus said go into the whole world and evangelize, so how can I go into the whole world, with what? I need a plane to be able to go to the whole world.”
Even the devil can quote scripture. But did Jesus Christ say you should go and steal to go and buy plane? But now they are claiming that they were given the jets as gifts. Are there no pastors where they are going? May God not punish us according to our sins.
Do you see indications that there is now a sufficient will to tackle corruption, or that corruption is no longer as pervasive as it was?
Corruption is in every nation but Nigeria’s own is number one. I am telling you. And if we are not careful, this nation will go down the drain. Now, people can’t help you to bring something from that corner without asking for remuneration. Look at so many children and youths who have no school to go to, or no money to pay school fees, and there are rich men who parade themselves up and down the place as rich people. For what? They seem to have forgotten that this life is not the end. Nobody chose his parents, and nobody came into the world with a gold or silver spoon.
So even if you have a gold or silver spoon, you are going to go empty handed. A wise man lives life in a simple way. That is how I am. Even Fela told them the truth, even though they said he was mad and called him all sorts of names. unclad you came into this world, and unclad you will go back. These are people that are supposed to rule and govern this nation. What is happening? Money is exchanging hands.
Now, they are asking the nation and the national assembly to approve so and so huge sum of money for them to borrow. They think people are stupid. Whatever you do as the Head of State without the permission of the people, you will pay for it. Those who were ministers and Heads of State before, some of them are in Abuja today begging for job, because if you get ill-gotten wealth, you will spend it anyhow. It is an ill wind that blows no one any good.
With the next election just a few months away, what would you say of the president’s ambition to seek re-election?
You can deduce that from what I have said before. You can even see from all that is going on, that some people have been saying that he even signed for one term. You see, if I were in his shoes, I would hide my head. I am not a prophet, just like I told him that day, but that is what my mind is telling me. And nobody knows what is going to happen. Even, nobody knows who is going to be alive to see 2015. So, one has to be very careful.
Talking about election, what kind of election are we even going to have in Nigeria? Is it going to be free and fair and just? Tell me what election we have had in Nigeria that is free and fair? Is it not mouth that they use in saying it is free and fair?

But why can’t they spend that money on the poor? There are many Nigerians who are begging that they have nothing to eat, and yet you say you’re preaching. Preaching for what? Are there no pastors where they are going? May God not punish us according to our sins.

PDP Sets Up Nine-man Committee To Woo Mimiko
Ondo State Governor had recently declared his loyalty to the Labour Party remained following reports he had defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), but the PDP has now committed to making him the latest member of the opposition to defect to the party.
According to the party in the state, it had set up a nine-man committee to liaise with the national leadership of the party to persuade and ensure that Gov. Olusegun Mimiko defected to the PDP. The committee members include Mr Ebenezer Alabi, Ondo State PDP Chairman, Mr Kingsley Kuku, the Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Tokunbo Kayode, former Minister of Defence; Sen. Bode Olajumoke and Chief Olusola Oke, among others.
“Once the governor and his team move to the PDP, it will make things easier for the PDP because elections in recent time in the state has always been between the LP and the PDP,” said Gbenga Elegbeleye, a PDP chieftain, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the meeting of the Ondo North Senatorial District of the party, adding that the party’s relationship with Mimiko and his people would start immediately after he had declared formally for the PDP.
“The focus now is on the 2015 national, state assemblies and presidential elections but my main concern is the presidential election because of my loyalty to the president.
“I am quite confident that President Goodluck Jonathan will win the election in the entire South West and other parts of the country due to the structure on ground,”Elegbeleye said.
Elegbeleye, who is the Director-General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), expressed optimism that the defection of Mimiko and his political machinery to the PDP would be a blessing and advantage to the party, as the party hopes to hear good news from Mimiko’s camp soon, after the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Labour Party.

Court Halts Sale Of Arisekola’s Assets Over N7bn Debt Owed GTBank
Plans to sell the assets of the late Aare Musulumi of Yoruba land, Alhaji Abdul-Azeez Arisekola-Alao has been halted by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos.
The suit was filed by Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) against the Estate of Arisekola Alao and two of his companies, Lister Flour Mills Nigeria Limited and Lister Oils Limited, over the alleged indebtedness to the tune of N7 billion.
After considering the facts presented before the court, the parties in the alleged debt suit to maintain status quo and stop the planned sale of the companies and personal assets of the late billionaire businessman.
“By this Order, the Estate of Late ALHAJI ABDUL AZEEZ ARISEKOLA ALAO and the Companies are directed not to dispose their assets (including the personal assets of Alhaji Arisekola), especially a Tank Farm owned by Lister Oil Limited situate at No. 21 Michael Ibru Boulevard (formerly Creek Road) Apapa Lagos, pending the determination of pending applications to restrain disposal of these assets,” the court directive read in part.
“GTB by the action claimed the sum of about N7 billion plus accrued interest being outstanding loans granted to Late ALHAJI ABDUL AZEEZ ARISEKOLA ALAO through his companies, Lister Oil Limited and Lister Flour Mills Limited.”
The bank alleged that Arisekola executed a personal guarantee in its favour to repay the loans. The Personal guarantee is expressed to be continuing against his Personal Estate in the event of his death.
The death of the philanthropist has therefore shifted the responsibility of the loan repayment on Arisekola’s Estate, which therefore has to remain to ensure GTB gets its money back.
According to a report by the Nigerian Tribune, GTB’s application to preserve the assets of the Defendants is to secure the outcome of the action and forestall dissipation of assets such that there will be nothing left to satisfy the Judgment debt in the event that judgment is made in its favour.

Presidency Playing Politics With Chibok Girls’ Misery – APC
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has accused the presidency of manipulating the release of the abducted Chibok girls to boost its approval ratings and improve public opinion about him.
The opposition alleged in a statement released on Sunday, that whatever efforts the government was making to secure the girls’ release were being done in the best interest of the government itself.
National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said in the statement that the federal seemed to have been assured that the girls would be released and therefore arranged an elaborate publicity event in New York while President Goodluck Jonathan was there for the UN General Assembly.
The event which several top notch international media had been invited for, according to the APC, was billed for the five-star Pierre Hotel in Manhattan, close to the UN Headquarters.
“Nigerians will remember that on 23 Sept., the military announced, on Twitter, the imminent release of the girls, only to retract the statement shortly thereafter. In the intervening period, thousands of ‘supporters’ of the President had gathered at the Pierre Hotel to welcome the President after the release of the girls, while media interviews had been booked for him,” said Mohammed in the statement.
He noted that an event of such class would have been seriously planned for and everyone expected there must have been given heads up on when to show up, which “was timed to also coincide with President Jonathan’s speech to the UN General Assembly on the following day – Sept. 24th – and to secure maximum advantage for the government.”
The statement noted however that the plan did not work out and it apparently hurt the presidency whose plan was to take full advantage of the moment.
The party therefore condemned what it called the shameless politicization of the plight of the Chibok girls.
“What should be paramount is securing the release of the girls as soon as possible, not securing their release to fit with a schedule that benefits Goodluck Jonathan politically. For the girls, their parents and indeed all good people of Nigeria, this abduction saga has been a nightmare. It is time for it to end,” the statement said.
It wondered why the government was now sending its cronies to negotiate with the Boko Haram to secure the release of the Chibok girls when its incompetence led to their abduction in the first place; more so, at the early stages of their abduction when there were calls for the government to negotiate their release, the government had not taken action.
The party however stated that “We believe the government should do whatever it takes to secure the safe release of the girls. We believe nothing is too much to do to get the girls back home safely and bring the much-needed relief to their parents and families. But we suspect the government’s sudden efforts, which is undoubtedly aimed at giving a boost to President Jonathan’s candidacy for next year’s presidential election.”

Chinese Student Rents Out Girlfriend to Save Up for iPhone 6
It’s that time of the year again when people do the stupidest things to get their hands on Apple’s latest iPhone. It’s been pretty crazy so far, but this story is a clear winner – a Chinese student is offering to share his girlfriend with anyone who will pay up in cash. He plans to use all the money his girlfriend earns him to pay for the highly coveted iPhone 6.
The kid recently stood outside Shanghai’s Songjiang University, holding up a sign that read: ‘Girlfriend Sharing’. To avoid being misunderstood, he also stated the ‘rules’ quite clearly. The deal, he wrote, included eating together, studying together, playing games, saving seats (in libraries/classrooms) or going on dates. The sign was pretty clear on one thing – ‘no funny business’.
“Sharing girlfriend for pocket money,” the sign read. “If you are interested, connect to personal hotspot ‘wifi sharing master’ to check out the girlfriend.”
Depending on the services, the price for sharing this guy’s girlfriend could range anywhere between 10 yuan per hour to 500 yuan a month (bulk offer). Social media posts suggest that the kid shared his girlfriend’s biography, height, weight, and photos with interested parties, and he insisted that she was quite willing to comply. We’re not sure if anyone has actually accepted the offer yet.
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard bizarre iPhone stories from China. A couple of years ago, a teenager actually sold his kidney to buy an iPhone and an iPad. In 2011, we wrote about a woman who offered her virginity in exchange for an iPhone 4.
I wonder if these impressionable kids realise at some point that they’re going through a whole lot of trouble for a gadget that will be obsolete in only a few months.

Charly Boy: “Entertainers Are Rushing Into Politics Because They Are Frightened About Their Tomorrow”
I expected this a little sooner but it’s good to know it still came……hehe
Very controversial self acclaimed ‘Area Fada’ of Abuja entertainement — Charly Boy, has finally spoken on the rush for all celebrities to join the game of politics.
In an interview with Punch, he has answered the big question everyone has been asking about entertainers delving into politics all of a sudden.
Charlyboy said, most of them are doing so because they are afraid of their future and only looking for a way of securing it.
Hear him: -
“We are living in very hard times and however they think they can augment their source of livelihood; I understand some of these issues because our environment has become crazy and unpredictable whereby they do not know what is going to happen tomorrow.
“I know to some people, they think politics is the way. Personally, I would never do that; I would never jump into something I know nothing about. We Nigerians are like ‘group-souls,’ meaning we just rush into what we see everybody going into.
“Whether we can go through that route or not is irrelevant; but because everybody is going through it, we just want to be a part of it. It is also known as the ‘bandwagon syndrome.’
“That is not my template of doing things, anybody that knows me know that I don’t venture into things others are doing. I don’t follow the bandwagon and that is why I do not see myself venturing into politics and I have a little disrespect for politicians. I know that most of them are bad and they are people who have not nurtured themselves as leaders and are involved in politics because of the money they want to steal.
“That is not a good thing, but I cannot stop somebody who is frightened of his/her tomorrow to venture in the same path. I pray and hope that they can make it because there is nowhere that is easy.”

Ember Months: FRSC Steps Up Patrol, Enlightenment In Ota
The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Ota, said it has intensified efforts on patrol and public enlightenment to reduce road accidents in the “Ember Months.”
The Ota Unit Commander of FRSC, Mr Sunday Omafu, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Saturday in Ota that the command had embarked on pre-trip inspection twice a week in all parks in Ota and its environs.
He said “the unit inspects vehicles going outside the state with defects like bad tyres, side mirrors and wind screen.
“We stop motorists with defects on their vehicles from embarking on a journey until those faults are rectified”, he said.
Omafu said that the command, in collaboration with the transport union in the state, embarked on the inspection and screening of vehicles.
According to him, the commission intends to do radio and television jingles during the ember months to warn drivers against overloading and speeding.
“We have written to companies operating in Ota and its environs to come to our aid in sponsoring the jingles”, he added.
The ember months, he said, should not be seen as different from other months, he advised.
The months, which formed the last quarter of the year, were observed to be busier than other months of the year as motorists, businessmen and women rushed to make ends meet in speedy manner.
The FRSC official said that to achieve that, commercial motorists try to make more trips during those months to make more money. (NAN)
Uche Ogbodo: “Why My One Month Old Marriage Crashed”
Sexy Nollywood actress — Uche Ogbodo was widely criticized after her previous marriage ended in just one month.
Uche Ogbodo in an extensive interview with Vanguard spoke about the matter and why nothing can be done about it.
Uche who is fond of blaming her crashed marriage on one word, again repeated the word in this interview – Lies. My marriage was based on lies, she said.
Too bad, she said her husband didn’t even see her pregnant for one day. I got to know I was pregnant when we were having issues, she said. I will be raising my daughter who is now one month and two weeks old all by myself she also affirmed.
She asked rumor mongers to stop spreading lies that she married her ex because he was rich. There were no millions when I married him, no millions anywhere she emphasized.
Read excerpts below: -
Have you left your husband for real?
The marriage didn’t work out.
Was it really a marriage?
It was a marriage but we didn’t do any wedding. We didn’t do any court marriage or church wedding. We did nothing. We didn’t even do traditional marriage but in my culture, there are many processes to getting married and I did a few of those, so you can say I was married. In Igbo land, there are rites you adhere to before you can say this is my wife and I did a couple of them.
Why did you do the rites in secret?
You cannot do rites openly; it’s just a family thing, family members only. It’s not a traditional wedding. If I had done traditional wedding, I would definitely invite people. If I had done a white wedding, I would have invited people. If I had done a court marriage, I would still have invited people but it was just rites. I didn’t do anything the public needed to know, so you can’t say I did any marriage in secret.
What really made you leave your husband?
My marriage was full of lies. I cannot tell you in detail what those lies were, if that’s what you’re trying to make me do but it was based on lies. It’s a pity it didn’t work out. I didn’t go into the marriage to crash it. I wanted a family; I wanted a loving home and a loving husband. That was why I went into it in the first place but as nature would have it, I didn’t get any of those. I still thank God my head is intact
Did he cheat on you? What exactly did he do?
No, it’s not about women. Like I always say, you cannot build a home on sinking sand. You need to build a home on a rock. What I mean is that a marriage built on deceit and lies is no marriage at all. If you want a solid marriage, it must be built on honesty and trustworthiness. If not, it’s definitely going to crash. If it doesn’t crash today, it will crash tomorrow, so the lies are my reasons.
When did you discover he was lying to you?
Well, it was good while it lasted; he was a good man to me. I felt all I saw was all I was supposed to see but later when one thing led to another and things started unfolding. I started finding out that everything was not what it seemed. Every relationship, you have problems in-between, there is no relationship that just goes on smoothly.
In the process of friendship and dating, we had issues that we resolved but when we took it to the next level we just couldn’t hold it together. There are things you can hide as friends but as married couple it is impossible because so many other things like families are involved.
As his girlfriend some things that were hidden were revealed when I became his wife. What happened between me and my husband is between me and my husband. We caused it, both of us caused it.
For how long were you guys together?
The marriage lasted barely a month before we started having issues. We were having issues before I found out I was pregnant.
Are you planning to raise your child as a single mother?
When I don’t have a husband, I’m raising her alone. I can’t throw my child away. It’s not her fault that the marriage didn’t work out, it’s not her fault that I got pregnant, it’s not her fault that we didn’t take our marriage seriously, so I’m going to raise her no matter what happens.
How old is she now?
She’s a month and two weeks now
Some people were saying you got into the marriage because of money?
I didn’t get into the marriage because of money in the first place. I got into the marriage because I wanted to be married and because I saw something in him that I felt would work out for me later in life. I didn’t go into it because of money; there were no millions to spend so it wasn’t about money. I don’t care what people say. What matters is the truth and I try to be very straightforward when I deal with people. So, it wasn’t about money because there was none
Others are saying you left him because of his brain tumor?
He doesn’t have brain tumor. He was sick at the time, he had issues but his sickness is not the reason why our marriage crashed. Money was not the issue either. I would definitely know about his health status before I would marry a man. I knew what I was going into, so how could I just leave a man because he had a brain tumor? It’s funny
Was your husband with you when you were pregnant?
No, he wasn’t. We were having issues, we weren’t together. He didn’t see me pregnant for one day
If you’re going to marry again, what would you do differently to make it work out?
I’m only going to keep praying to God to give me someone who wouldn’t lie to me, someone that would be plain, very plain to me.
Are you still planning to marry again?
I’ve left the door open. I’m not going to close the door of marriage because one marriage didn’t work. The door is wide open. When I find someone that I’m going to be happy with but I wouldn’t want another experience where my marriage crashes because once beaten twice shy. So I’m going to take my time now and dig deep

Fayemi Imposes 7pm – 7am Curfew On Ekiti As Hoodlums Take Over
The court attacks in Ekiti State has taken a new twist as hoodlums took to the streets on Friday burning houses and looting shops, leading to the declaration of a 7pm – 7am curfew by Governor Kayode Fayemi.
“…there would be no movement between the hours of 7.00 p.m. and 7.00 a.m. everyday till further notice,” announced Fayemi on Friday.
This came following the killing of a former chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in the state, Omolafe Aderiye, who was shot at close range in his office located at Ijigbo, Ado Ekiti, the capital city.
Aderiye was said to have been in the company of the Governor-elect, Ayodele Fayose when thugs linked to him beat up a judge at the State High Court on Thursday.
“I am advised incontrovertibly that thugs acting on the command of Mr. Ayo Fayose, who was also present to lend his clout to the travesty, brazenly assaulted a senior judge and urged his thugs to beat him up and tear his clothes,” Fayemi said.
The tribunal sitting could not hold on Thursday after hoodlums storm the premises, beating a judge to stupor. The sitting was adjourned to October 14.
“The State can no longer afford to witness the bizarre spectacle of the beating up of judicial officers and wanton intimidation of lawyers and court personnel,” Fayemi said.
The judge who was battered by the thugs was rescued by the State Police Commissioner, Taiwo Lakanu, who has now assured judges of their safety when the sitting resumes.

EFCC Drops N75.7bn Criminal Charges Against Former Works Minister, Hassan Lawal
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Thursday dropped criminal charges it leveled against a former Minister of Works, Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Hassan Lawal, and nine others before the Federal High Court, Abuja.
The accused persons were slammed with a 44 count amended charge bordering on conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, conversion and fraud to the tune of N75.7 billion.
Lawal and his co-accused (Dr. Adeogba Godwin Ademola, Digital Toll Company Limited; Swede Control Interlink Limited; Proman Vital Ventures Limited; Nairda Limited; Siraj Nigeria Limited and Wise Health Services Limited), however, pleaded not guilty to the amended charge.
At the resumed hearing yesterday, prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Wahab Shittu, said he was instructed to discontinue further prosecution of the accused persons, who have being on trial since 2011.
In his ruling on the matter, the trial judge, Justice Ahmed Ramat Mohammed, granted the application to strike out the case.
While discharging the 10 accused persons, the court however, declined making an order for their acquittal.
The court held that, “where a person has not been arraigned, court cannot make order of acquittal”.

Jonathan Appointed Obanikoro To ‘Destroy The Opposition’, Says Lagos APC
The All Progressives Congress, Lagos State chapter, has alleged that the reason President Goodluck Jonathan appointed Senator Musiliu Obanikoro as the Minister of State for Defence was to destroy the APC, especially in the South-West.
According to the party, Obanikoro was already doing his “master’s bidding”, as he had used soldiers and thugs to intimidate members of the APC both in the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.
The Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Joe Igbokwe, said this during a press conference on Thursday to address the murder of an APC member, Alhaji Azeez Asake, who was killed shortly after the Peoples Democratic Party held a rally at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos on Saturday.
Igbokwe, who fingered Obanikoro in the murder, said one of the culprits identified only as Abija, had been arrested by the police.
He said, “Last Saturday, after the PDP held its zonal rally at the TBS, Alhaji Asake was killed on Lagos Island by a group loyal to Senator Obanikoro, a junior minister in the Ministry of Defence. One man known as Abija, who leads the group, ordered one Olokodana to shoot Asake dead. He has been arrested by the police while Olokodana is on the run.
“We want to thank the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode Aderanti for the great job. On Asake’s murder, we want to state that Obanikoro is a violent politician who uses every means possible to achieve the desires of his heart irrespective of the feeling of others”.
Igbokwe said it was unfortunate that the minister, having failed to win the governorship election in 2007, was perpetrating acts of violence against the people of Lagos.
He called Obanikoro’s attention to the fact that he is a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and not of the PDP.
He said, “People only hear about Obanikoro, a junior minister and we hear nothing about the Minister of Defence (Aliyu Gusau). This is because Obanikoro’s job is just to use security agents to destroy the opposition and that was what he did at Ilubirin Estate the other day.
“This must be an embarrassment to the Ministry of Defence. The ministry works to defend every Nigerian whether he belongs to the APC or the PDP; irrespective of his tribe or religion. To use that exalted ministry to advance the cause of the ruling party is a threat to national unity”.
However, Obanikoro had on Monday, through his media aide, Ohimai Amaize, denied having a hand in Asake’s murder and accused the APC of making unfounded allegations.
Bauchi To Sponsor 417 Christians To Israel For 2014 Pilgrimage
Bauchi State is sponsoring 417 Christians in the state to Israel for the 2014 pilgrimage, Rev. Shuibu Byel said on Friday.
The Chairman of the State Christians Pilgrims Welfare Board made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi.
“With 417 penciled for sponsorship this year, the total number of Christians sponsored by the state government would be 2,725 from 2007 to date,” said Byel.
According to him, the predominantly Muslim state which adopted Sharia law in 2001 is the only state that sponsored such large number of Christians to Israel.
He therefore commended Governor Isa Yuguda for his generosity and unbridled support for the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, urging the government to continue carrying everyone in the state along, regardless of religious, political or cultural differences.
Byel described Yuguda’s generosity as one transcending state lines, as he has been supporting pilgrims from other states.
September 29 has been fixed by the Board for the screening of prospective pilgrims in a bid to verify their credentials and confirm information supplied.

Van Persie: I want to play with Rooney and Falcao
The Dutch striker believes that Manchester United would
be strongest with all three of their top forwards working
together and backs Louis van Gaal to get it right
Manchester United striker Robin
van Persie wants to find a way to
play effectively alongside both
Wayne Rooney and Radamel
Falcao.
Falcao's deadline-day arrival on a
season-long loan from Monaco left
manager Louis van Gaal with an
embarrassment of riches in the final third.
While the Red Devils boss is yet to find the right mix between
the trio - who all started Sunday's shock 5-3 loss to Leicester
City - Van Persie insists that they can all play at the same time
and work well.
"We want to play together," he
told Fox Sports News. "We are
constantly talking to each other
[on] how we can improve our
game together because
everyone feels that [when] we
are together we are stronger.
"It's quite interesting to see one
of those conversations because
we all have the target. We want
to win games. We want to share
success. I don't think we have a
confidence issue, if I'm really
honest."
Van Persie also reiterated his
faith in Van Gaal - despite United having won just one of their
first six matches in all competitions under the new boss this
season.
The pair worked together when Van Gaal was in charge of
Netherlands and the striker is convinced that the 63-year-old
can handle the pressures that come with the top job at Old
Trafford.
"I think his numbers speak for itself," the forward argued. "He
has succeeded everywhere he has managed. Everyone believes
in his philosophy as well.

We Rattled APC By Our Decision To Adopt Jonathan As PDP’s Sole Candidate – Akpabio
The chairman of PDP Governors Forum and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Godswill Akpabio, has described the decision of the National Executive Committee of the PDP to adopt President Goodluck Jonathan as the sole presidential candidate of the party for the 2015 general elections as a well calculated exercise in democracy.
Governor Akpabio, who stated this on Wednesday in Akwa Ibom during the PDP Performance Publicity Tour led by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, said “the opposition is rattled” because of the ability of the governors and leaders of the PDP to sacrifice their individual ambitions and rally behind the president, who he said has “performed exceedingly well”.
“The adoption by NEC is democracy in action. In America that we are copying, the incumbent president does not go through primaries. We are not saying that the president will not face the general elections. So the idea of him spending presidential time instead of facing insurgency, food insufficiency and other things that may affect the country and begin to campaign for the party ticket when he is already the incumbent president is what we want to avoid . I think this is a very fantastic model of internal democracy.”
“What we only said and did is, let’s sacrifice our individual ambition so that Mr. President will have a second term. We are not saying that other people should not contest election, but saying that as PDP governors, that we want to join hands and support him to win the second term. It does not mean that any person who wants to contest should not contest. We are indeed deepening democracy by sacrificing our own ambition”, Akpabio stated.
He pointed out that the PDP governors by that decision, also resolved to stabilize the party and avoid the unfortunate situation that leaves the party fractured after primary elections.
“Instead of fracturing the party at the end of the convention, we want to move as one family to elect the presidential candidate at the convention. And that is democracy in action. So I don’t think anybody should criticize it, rather we should be commended for not behaving like past governors who by now, nine or fifteen of them would have declared for presidency and then confusion will start in the party. So, the people who sacrificed their ambition to support the president; should they be castigated or commended? I must therefore thank the PDP NEC for adopting the position of the PDP governors. It is left for the National Convention to ratify. This is an evidence that Nigeria is changing”, Akpabio added.
The governor maintained that “the opposition is rattled” by the decision, noting that “any time that the PDP makes a move and the opposition is criticizing, then you know that that thing is biting them and if they praise you, you should be worried”.
Earlier, the National Publicity of the PDP, who led the performance tour, commended Governor Akpabio for the world-class infrastructures, which he said have turned Akwa Ibom into a national and international destination.
“This is our legacy. This is the legacy of our great party, the PDP.
“We can’t thank this governor enough for the faithful implementation of the manifesto of the PDP. Our great party can’t thank him enough for making us proud, for faithfully serving the people and improving their lots beyond the national average”, a visibly elated Metuh said.
