Daniel Sturridge has signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool.
The 25-year-old English striker, who joined the Anfield club from Chelsea in January 2013, has scored 36 goals in 52 appearances- including 21 in the Premier League as the club finished runners-up behind another of his former employers Manchester City.
“It’s a big, big day in my life to commit to this club and to give my best years, which are ahead of me,” Sturridge told Liverpool’s official website
Sturridge, who has missed the ‘Reds’s’last six matches with a hamstring injury, says extending his stay with the Merseysiders was “an easy decision”.
He added: “There are a lot of things I’m happy with how they’ve gone so far, but there is a lot to come.
“I may have had some good games and scored some goals, but literally this is the beginning in terms of what I can show.
“We were so close to success last season and it was a bitter pill to take not winning the league, but that’s just a taster of what the fans will get – but hopefully this time we’ll have the trophies to show for it.”
