An Enugu woman, Eunice Ugwuozor, was reportedly killed by her son, Uchechukwu, in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu, on October 2, 2014.
Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, confirmed the arrest of the suspect and disclosed that no motive has been uncovered yet, though the boy may have been suffering from a mental health issue.
Police say Ugwuozor was asleep in her home when the stabbing took place, around 5:00 a.m. After the crime, they believe the son fled the area.
“Operatives of the State Criminal Investigations Division of the Enugu State Command of the Nigeria Police Force have commenced a full scale investigation to unravel the mystery and circumstances surrounding the alleged stabbing to death of the woman by the son,” a police statement read.
