Wizkid and Davido to share one stage together

Well, it’s not the collabo all fans have been waiting for but this is the closest we can get for now.

The 2014 edition of Soundcity Blast concert is bound to invite a lot of fans as the organizers have announced that feuding superstars, Wizkid and Davido would share the same stage while performing at the forthcoming event.

Soundcity made the announcement on their official twitter handle: ‘What could possibly be bigger than Wizkid and Davido sharing a single stage in Lagos on December 18th? You say?’

If all goes according to plan, the 2014 edition of Soundcity Blast, which is scheduled to take place on December 18, 2014 at a yet-to-be-disclosed venue on the Island, would be the first time that Wizkid and Davido would share the same stage to perform since they renewed hostilities via a series of twitter rants in July 2014.

Apart from the Twitter rants, the two young acts who are among the most influential figures in the Nigerian entertainment industry, have granted a number of interviews, notably in Olisa Adibua’s THE TRUTH series where they also hit out at each other, with each of them defending his actions and utterances since the beef began a few months ago.

Nonso Diobi: “I’m would definitely date Ini Edo”

Well, she is officially back on the market so she is fresh meat for anyone interesting in trying his luck.

Charming Nollywood star, Nonso Diobi spoke up about several issues in an interview with Ynaija on November 14, 2014, most especially his celebrity crush Ini Edo.

The handsome fair skinned actor joined Nollywood in 2001 and has featured in several movies to date. In 2008 and 2009 respectively, he won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

During the interview he opened up about who in the entertainment industry he would like to date and he mentioned actresses Uche Elenduand and Ini Edo saying :

“I would definitely date Uche Elendu if I could. The truth is that I used to have a crush on her but thank God she is married now and another person is Ini Edo, I just love her sense of humor”

The actor who declared that he is indeed single clearly has a crush on Ini Edo who just parted ways with her husband of 5 years Phillip Ehiagwina.

4 Ways To Spot A Big Fat Liar, According To Science

Not sure what that means exactly? No worries. Here are the four telltale signs of spotting a liar.

1. Liars talk less about themselves.
It’s all about creating a distance from the situation, so liars remove themselves immediately from the story. Zanden’s example of this behavior was with Lance Armstrong who originally, when asked about performance-enhancing drugs, created a hypothetical scenario in which to separate himself from it all. However, in 2013 when he finally could no longer lie about the situation, he used 75% more personal pronouns in his truths. He’d been caught and there was no longer a reason to keep that distance going.

2. They’re negative about the situation.
If someone’s lying about why they’re late, they’re going to blame the “stupid” traffic, or the “dumb” train that never came. They’ll also talk about how much something “sucks,” or how much they “hate” whatever supposedly caused them to be late. According to Zanden, liars do this because in some ways they actually feel quite guilty about the fact that they’re lying.

3. Their stories are “overly-simplified.”
It’s not easy to come up with a lie, even a bad one, so because of the work it entails, language tends to get disturbed and messy. It takes some effort to come up with a lie, so liars try to keep their untrue stories simple and to the point.

4. They use a lot irrelevant “facts.”
Although the plot of their fallacy is simple, the way they describe it is over the top. I know when I lie to get a “sick” day, I’m not just “sick,” but “I’ve been throwing up for hours and I’m pretty sure it’s food poisoning or maybe not, and maybe I should go to the hospital, but I really don’t want to, so I’m going to wait until noon and figure it out then.” I’m very babbly, even if it’s in an email to someone, as if I need to convince them of the truth by adding all these absurd details, details that I’m likely to forget a day later, therefore messing up my lie, so I have to tell another lie, of course.

8 Ways Facebook Could Destroy Your Marriage

Here are eight and a half things you’re doing on or because of Facebook that could potentially damage your marriage.

1. You’re checking Facebook on your phone, instead of talking to your spouse
According to the Daily Mail, new research has found people spend more time on their smartphones than with their marriage partners. People tend to use their smartphones for about 119 minutes a day, whereas they spend about 97 minutes with their loved one, the research found.

2. You care more about what other people post than what your spouse does
Some would call this “the Instagram effect,” but the idea is simple: You care more about what your friends and family are posting on Facebook than you do what your wife or husband is doing right in front of you. Instagram does have more than 150 million users (many of whom post their stuff to Facebook, too), so people are bound to see some things on there that can grab them and take their attention away from their spouses.

3. You’re not liking your loved one’s status
This may seem simple, but it’s an important one. Much has been written by bloggers and dating websites about the effects of liking someone’s statuses, mostly because a large number of likes implies that the liker is interested in the likee. By avoiding the like button for your loved one, you may be giving off a colder impression about how you feel about them.

4. You like someone else’s statuses way too much
According to data from Facebook, Facebook interactions are heavy between soon-to-be couples, with post sharing and likes increasing within the 100 days before a relationship starts. By liking someone else’s statuses and photos too much, you may be giving off the wrong impression that you’re not tied down into a relationship and that you’re looking for a way to leave it.

5. Careful with some of those Facebook friends
It’s no question that you and your spouse are going to have some mutual friends. But be wary of them because they may cause you strife. According to the Pew Research Center, half of Facebook’s users have more than 200 friends in their network, so a shared friend is bound to pop up among married couples. Just make sure those 200 friends aren’t going to comment something off-putting or discouraging on your loved one’s status. It may raise problems within the marriage and friend circles, too.

6. You quit Facebook, but you still ask questions about it
According to research cited by the Daily Mail, more people are saying their goodbye to the social network, as they’re worried about privacy and getting addicted to the website. But when you’re done with Facebook, you may start asking your loved one some questions about it — who your spouse is interacting with, what they’ve been posting and what they recently saw on the website, for example — and that could raise arguments and complications regarding trust.

7. You didn’t do a good job with your privacy settings
Marriage should involve trust and being able to open up to someone. But Facebook creates the possibility for many other people to see what you’re all about. NBC News reported that privacy is a major concern for Facebook users, as it leaves them open to review and judgment by their friends and possibly the public. Conversations that should happen first between husband and wife are posted for the public to see. For example, one source told Deseret News National that his wife shared that he and his wife’s kid started on walking on Facebook before sharing it with him. That was not an easy conversation to have. Facebook may also lead to people finding out things about you before your spouse knows about them, which is another sign of failing trust.

8. Your Facebook photo isn’t right
That’s right. What you display as a profile picture says a lot about you. In fact, The Atlantic reported that what makes a profile picture look good is the amount of engagement it gets — such as likes, shares and comments. But if you keep something unattractive up — like a photo no one likes — your spouse may feel the pressure to ask you to take it down.

There are other problems. But what are they?
Of course, Facebook is filled with a variety of users interacting with a vast number of people every day, so there are bound to be problems we didn’t think of.

Dayo Adeneye, D1: “I Am Not Going Into Politics To Make Money”

It’s no longer news that Nigerian politics has been invaded by entertainers who think they’ve got what it takes to do better than we’ve been getting.

One of the political aspirant and Showbiz mogul, Dayo Adeneye fondly called D1 has said that he is not going into politics to fill his pockets but rather, to make a change.

D1 who aims to represent Odogbolu Constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly come 2015 made this known in an exclusive interview with Punch. He said, “Anybody who knows my antecedents will tell you that my real interest has always been to serve this country.

I came back to nigeria at a time most people were planning to leave. I left a plum job in the United States to contribute my quota to the development of the country through the private sector. I became a part of the change that gave birth to the African Independent Television and Raypower FM radio station.

That was when nobody believed in 24-hour broadcasting in Nigeria.

He argued that money has never been his problem saying “Anybody who knows me will testify that I made money when I was young.

I was a millionaire in my 20s. I have built my houses. Kenny and I were among the first people in Nigeria to own Hummer Jeeps.

We were also among the first to own the latest models of the Range Rover Sport Utility Vehicle. This is not about boasting; I have made my mark.

I am not looking for money. Everybody knows my pedigree. I am a hardworking person and I have businesses in communication and hospitality. “When Kenny Ogungbe and I came into the entertainment industry, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti was the highest paid musician and he was collecting only N25,000 per show.

But, today, through our efforts we have artistes like P-Square and Tuface Idibia who are collecting about N10m and more, per show. If we did these things with our own funds, imagine what we can do if given the mandate to serve the people.

He also said that his campaign is funded from his personal savings and he is not begging any one out there for financial assistance.

Wizkid: “I Am No More An Average Artist”

He has been under scrutiny for the past couple of months now, but the young superstar seems to be handling the criticism very well.

Wizkid’ Balogun is one of the headliners for Hennessy Artistry this year and he revealed in a recent interview, his experience working with 2Face Idibia (2baba) as co-headliners of the artistry, the review of his sophomore album AYO and how he has been spending his earning.

Read excerpts below: –

How has it been working as one of the Hennessy Artistry headliners this year?
I feel really blessed to be part of Hennessy Artistry this year. I am happy to be associated with the brand and I thank God for the opportunity to work with 2Face Idibia. He has been like a legend in the Nigerian music industry. He is one of the pioneers who paved the way for young artistes like me. So, it is a great feeling working with such individual. This will be the first time we actually got into the studio to finish a track. I really feel blessed. Thanks to Hennessy.

How have been able to build the Wizkid brand to such a popular one?
It looks like it has taken me all my life to build this brand. Before I went into making music, I already had what I wanted to be in my head. I was conscious of what I wanted to be and definitely knew I wanted to build a brand. In my journey in this music industry, I had wanted people to know the brand, not my name or my music and I try to stay out of trouble and sometimes avoid things happening. So, I am working on my brand and I want to take it to the global level.

In what way are you working to sustain the brand?
The truth is that I worry about sustainability of the brand and that’s why I work endlessly every day and night to make sure the brand Wizkid is here, even when I am no longer here. When I finally leave this world, I want to leave a legacy that people will follow. I am also building the Star Boy brand to help young artistes and producers. I want to create a platform for other talented people to grow creatively and push out their music. Star Boy is about a year old now, and our boys are getting constant airplay and nominations at various award platforms in Nigeria and abroad. So it is a great a feeling and I am liking it.

You have written a lot of hit songs. Which one would you consider the most challenging song ever written?
I would say ‘Jaiye Jaiye’. This is because when I wrote the song, I was a bit worried about whether people would accept the song. And that song is really special to me. So when I called Femi Kuti and I told him about the song, I wasn’t expecting his instant acceptance. When he said ‘yes’ to my request immediately, I was shocked and happy. The following day, we entered studio immediately and started to work on the song and I happy that I didn’t disappoint him.

Most people are usually afraid of breaking the sophomore jinx and you have just released your second album. What has been the response of music fans to the album?
The acceptance of my new album Ayo (Joy) has been awesome. Every day, people love the album and discover new tracks from the album. Before the release, I had already put out most of the songs as singles. Songs like Ojuelegba, In My Bed, Show Me The Money among others are already hit with people. It feels really good. When I was putting together the album, I tried to make a conscious decision not to change my style of music too much. I think people are already having this thing in their heads that because I am working with some international artistes, I might try to change my style of music or what I would sound like. But that is not true. I can never change my style of music for anyone.

Many critics have praised you for the track One Question. How did you come up with such heavy highlife track?
As I have said, I work endlessly to make sure that the Wizkid brand gets the needed respect. A lot of people would be thinking Wizkid is all about making party music but I have actually decided to do good music. I’m not to just make music for now, but do something that people can listen to years to come. I want to pass a message across to a wider audience. That is what I did with the track, Joy. I was talking about my life and using it to inspire others. The same thing I did with Jaiye Jaiye and Ojuelegba. So, songs like that and One Question prove to you that I am no longer an average artiste. I am very confident of the music that I make now. And by God’s grace, I will definitely make things happen and take my music to global audience.
Why did you shoot the video of Show Me The Money in Surulere?
I decided to shoot the Show Me The Money video in sh*tta, also known as Small London, in Surulere because that’s where I grew up. I have paid my dues and there are so many stories to tell. I used to perform at all the carnivals in Surulere every December for free, including Lawanson to Brown Road. That is my hood where I was raised. So I have to pay my dues.

What’s happening between you and Skales as we have not heard of any collaboration between the two of you?
Of course, I will work with Skales. He was in my house some weeks ago and he brought a track. Definitely, I am going to work with him.

How did you come about the name Star Boy?
The streets gave me the name. It’s my people that started calling me that name and it stuck.

How would you react to those complaining that you like to show off your wealth on the social media?
Haa, show off kee? But let’s be honest, I didn’t have any of these good things before now. So, I have to show them off to motivate people and also to thank God for blessing me with all the wealth to acquire those things.

What about those who say you are arrogant and act like a terrible person?
Well, everyone is entitled to his or her opinion. And you should also check those who claim I am a terrible person. I am not and my people know that.  Whatever any one feels, he should not blame me for it. Everyone cannot like you; same as everyone cannot hate you. I am just being me and also being a good person. Fame has not changed me; it only added some accessories to my collections. People say I am arrogant and it does not bother me because I still show my fans love and they do same in return.

Where are you investing all the millions you are making now?
I invest heavily in properties and jewellery. I spend more on gold. I have heard some people say they are vanities but I tell you, they are very good investment

2015 Elections Will Be Difficult To Rig – Jega

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Attahiru Jega says politicians will find it very difficult to rig the 2015 election, as the commission is putting several measures in place to check this.

“We shall be using card readers which we believe will add tremendous integrity to the electoral system. We are using NYSC, lawyers and retired judges. We are bringing more people of integrity. We did biometric registration and we issued permanent voter cards. The idea is to use card readers with electronic chips that will help identify the person who was actually registered,” said Jega, who was in the US to monitor the mid-term elections.

He told Thisday that politicians would no longer be able to buy cards or use the cards of dead people to vote, with the technology the commission was adopting.

“The biometric card reader will add tremendous integrity to the electoral system. We have used eight months to clean up the register, which is one of the best in the African continent.

“We are saying that in 2015, if anybody rigs the election, that person will be apprehended and punished. Rigging will not determine the electoral fortunes of anybody. Let me also add that from all perspective, operationally and logistically, we are ready for the 2015 elections from the perspective of the electoral management body and we are working closely with all stake holders to address some of the outstanding challenges.

“Security is a major challenge. However, we are working with the security network to ensure that elections are held in every part of Nigeria including the North-east. We implore everyone to come out and register and elect the right people to office. My advice is that all stakeholders should be actively engaged in the process and stop being sarcastic but should work towards ensuring the true choice of the people emerge in 2015.

“We have done so many things including cleaning up the register of voters. In 2011, we had barely eight months to clean up the register but now we had four years to do this and we put the four years to good use,” Jega said.

According to the INEC Chairman, the US mid-term elections offered him a rich repertoire of experiences which have evolved over 200 years with so much trust and confidence that no one suspects the electoral bodies of compromise.

Speaking at a press conference held at the press room of the Nigerian Embassy, Jega said many electoral commissioners from other countries applauded the great reforms the Nigerian electoral system has undergone since 1999, but added that “We have to earn the confidence and trust of voters in our country. Sadly, Nigerian politicians suspect everything we do but we have to make it clear we are working towards a transparent electoral system, letting them know we work towards having a level playing field for everybody.”

He also expressed his disappointment over comments that he favoured the north with more polling units and less for the South. “I feel bad because in Nigerian politics, people bandy all sorts of allegations and when it comes to your territory you have to defend yourself. When I am accused of doing what I did not do, I feel bad but all I need to do is to clarify the issues with additional information. But the mischievous remains unrelenting. I am not a religious bigot. I have conducted myself as chairman of INEC with impartiality and non-partisanship along with other INEC national commissioners. We are working together to deliver the best election for our country. So we refuse to be distracted.”

Tambuwal To Remain Speaker As Court Adjourns Till Nov 17

The Attorney General of the Federation and the Inspector General of Police have agreed not to do anything that will undermine the office of the Speaker of the House of Representatives as a result to his defection to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).

The federal agencies have therefore asked a Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the suit filed by Aminu Tambuwal over perceived moves to impeach him.

When the case resumed yesterday for hearing, the presiding judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed reiterated his orders for the parties to maintain the status quo.

The judge premised the order to maintain status quo on verbal undertakings by the defendants’ lawyers not to do anything that would destroy the subject matter of the case.

In a short ruling, Justice Mohammed held that: “Parties are on agreement that the res should not be tampered with. The plaintiffs are satisfied by the undertakings granted the defendants not to tamper with the res.

“The lone issue now is the security of the plaintiff.

“On the issue of jurisdiction, the court has power to determine whether or not it has jurisdiction.

“The preliminary objections will be taken together with the substantive case.

“Parties are hereby directed to maintain the status quo pending the hearing of the suit and the preliminary objections.”

The court however did not make any order directing the police to reinstate the security details of the Speaker, but acted on accelerating proceedings. He adjourned the matter till November 17.

Babangida, Buhari, Obasanjo, Others Responsible For Nigeria’s Problems

Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), Professor Chidi Odinkalu has blamed Nigeria’s woes on past military leaders of the country.

Odinkalu said this on Wednesday at the 20th anniversary lecture of a non-governmental organisation, Prisoners’ Rehabilitation Awareness (PRAWA), in Abuja.

He noted that Nigeria’s problems began during the military era, especially during the era of General Ibrahim Babangida, reports Nigerian Tribune.

“The problem we have today in our prisons system and our criminal justice system dates back to that doctrine of 1986. Things were working perfectly well in Nigeria until 1986,” Odinkalu.

He pointed out that the state is decaying, noting that the rise of vigilantism all over the country is evident of a decaying state and power.

He called on PRAWA and other civil society groups to collaborate and work to make the country get back on the right track.

Executive Director of PRAWA, Uju Agomoh, in her remarks, called on the Federal Government to support PRAWA’s initiative to transform the country’s prisons.

“We need to work for the collective ownership of the criminal justice system,” The Chairman of PRAWA board, Gabriel Toby also said.

Patience Calls On Women To Reciprocate Jonathan’s Kindness By Supporting Him

Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs Patience Jonathan said women have benefited so much under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan.

“For the first time in Nigeria, women are recognised, respected, heard and given opportunities to be partners in the developmental efforts of our dear nation.

“It is now left for us, women, to reciprocate this gesture by supporting and standing by him as he transforms Nigeria,” she said.

Mrs Jonathan, who spoke during the distribution of empowerment items to women in Kwara State, organised by Women for Change and Development Initiative (W4CDI) in the state capital, Ilorin said Jonathan is the answer to the future prosperity of Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is the party through which this prosperity will be brought about.

The president’s wife dismissed opinions that women lacked qualities required for political leadership. According to her, the roles of women have gone beyond the kitchen.

“Our place is no longer in the kitchen. We should therefore reject anyone who says we should go back to the kitchen. Women kitchen is not our portion. We reject it. We are not of kitchen. That does not mean that we will not cook for the men. We will cook for you.

“We also know that most Nigerian women are honest, hard-working, intelligent, caring and understanding that if we, as women, can channel this attribute to the right direction, the society will be a better for it.

“We now have women who are making waves in their various positions of authority,” Mrs Jonathan said.

David Alaba Undergoes Surgery, Out until 2015

Bayern Munich midfielder David Alaba could be sidelined for the next couple of months after undergoing successful knee ligament surgery, the German Bundesliga club have announced.

The Austria international sustained an injury to his meniscus during Wednesday’s 2-0 UEFA Champions League victory over Roma which guaranteed Bayern top spot in their group and qualification for the knockout phase next year.

The German champions have said the 22-year-old, who set up Franck Ribery’s opener on Wednesday night, could return to full training by early January.

“It’s a bitter moment for me because everything was going well both for the club and myself,” Alaba said on the eve of his operation. “With the help of the medical staff, I hope to be back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
Alaba has played in all of Bayern’s 17 matches this season before injury derailed his season at the Allianz Arena in midweek.

Take Responsibility For Level Of Insecurity In Nigeria And Resign; APC Tells Jonathan

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has backed the call by party leader Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan, saying it is not strange for leaders to leave their positions in the best interest of their countries.

“According to available information, Chamberlain led Britain through the first eight months of World War II but had to resign after the Allies were forced to retreat from Norway, because of his belief that a government supported by all parties was essential for the unity needed to defeat Adolf Hitler. The resignation paved the way for Winston Churchill who later became the hero of the War,” a statement by APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said on Friday.

Neville Chamberlain had resigned as British Prime Minister on May 10th 1940 after Adolf Hitler forced the allies to retreat from Norway. The APC therefore said there was nothing extraordinary in Tinubu’s call for the president’s resignation due to the level of insecurity in the country.

“The call by one of our leaders is about taking responsibility. President Jonathan is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If under his watch Nigerian territories are being annexed progressively by insurgents, and all that he has demonstrated so far is sheer cluelessness and incompetence, it is time for him to take responsibility and quit in the national interest, to pave the way for a leader who can lead the country to victory,” the party said.

“The presidency is right to say that when terrorists attacked the US in September 2001, the leaders of the Democratic Party did not demand a resignation of President George Bush but rather they rose in defence of the American nation to support the various measures taken by the President to defeat the Al-Qaeda terrorists.

“What the presidency forgot to say, however, is that Americans would not have rallied behind then President Bush if he had been photographed snuggling with any sponsor of Al-Qaeda as President Jonathan did with one of the alleged sponsors of Boko Haram in Chad. Americans would not have rallied behind Bush if 9-11 had occurred not just once but twice or thrice, because it would have shown that the President is simply incompetent to lead.

“President Jonathan watched helplessly as Boko Haram moved from Sambisa Forest to take over a large chunk of territory in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe states and proclaim a Caliphate. President Jonathan watched helplessly as Boko Haram abducted and took away almost 300 girls, holding most of them for over 200 days … still counting. His Administration is even mocking and harassing those who are campaigning for the release of the girls. No people in the world will give such a leader unconditional support.

“Therefore, even if no leader in history has ever resigned during war (even though we have now proved that is not correct), nothing prevents President Jonathan from becoming the first leader to do so. After all, never in the history of any nation has incompetence and cluelessness been exhibited by any leader, as President Jonathan has done, when the country is at war,” the opposition party said in the statement.

NYSC Members To Be Deployed For 2015 Elections – DG

Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier-General Johnson Olawumi Thursday said the violence that marred the 2011 elections in different parts of the country will not deter the Corps from deploying members for the 2015 elections.

According to him, NYSC is putting measures in place to protect the lives of the corps members.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Batch ‘C’ of the 2014 corps members deployed in Ondo State, Olawumi said lessons learnt from the 2011 elections will be used to forestall a recurrence.

“The decision for corps members to take part in election was taken by government and for the simple reason that they are well dispersed all over the nooks and crannies of the country; and I want to state categorically that since corps members have started taken part in elections in Nigeria, our elections have continued to gain credibility.

“The agreement between NYSC and INEC still stands and what that means is that corp members will take part in 2015 elections all over Nigeria, as long as there will be election, they be part of it.

“However, I must state clearly that we are not sleeping, we have learnt from our past mistakes, we have studied what happened in the last election and have put measures in place for the safety and security of corp members,” he said.

Also speaking at the inauguration, Ondo State coordinator of the NYSC, Alhaji Olanrewaju Kuoye said 2400 corps members were deployed in the state, but 2395 had registered as of the commencement of the ceremony.

Making Your Girl Happy: 4 Things He Should Know

You always hear that women are impossible to ‘get’. I think the opposite. I think they are easy to understand…AND…easy to please.

I didn’t always know that.

Like most men, I used to view women as beautiful, exotic creatures that are unpredictable and impossible to figure out. I wasn’t doing the math. When guys don’t address the basics, women get complicated quickly. It’s all about the layers. Here are five tips for your man that might help him keep you happy and your relationship on course, Guy’s Guy style. We’re talking to HIM here, so share them, ladies, and you might see a change for the better.

1. Clean Up Your Act – Regardless of how tidy a woman may or may not be, she’s delighted when a man keeps his crib, car, clothes and body squeaky clean and smelling good. Special attention is required for the refrigerator, sink, and especially the bathroom. She’ll notice. Keeping clean is a positive way to live and it will help guys score a check plus on the first date and beyond. It may also up his chances at her wanting to see if his sheets are clean, also. Once into a relationship, guys need to set the bar high. That means cleaning up around the house, taking out the garbage and vacuuming etc. It’s got to be done anyway and she’ll notice.

2. Be Proactive – If a woman has to keep drilling a guy about doing

every little thing that’s expected, he’ll remain in her doghouse. It’s critical for men to take care of things on their own without having to be asked a million times. No one wants to be a nag, but she’ll seem like one if he doesn’t think ahead. Want to avoid “the talk”? Anticipate a woman’s needs and address them. Surprise her with flowers, reservations at a restaurant she’s mentioned, cook her a tasty meal, order tickets for that play she wanted to see, etc.

3. Paying Attention- Yep, I’ve said it again, and I still mess up. Guys have to stop thinking about themselves 24/7 and show more consideration for the one who keeps them happy. When they don’t, things get tricky and guys hear about it at the most inopportune times. I got an earful the other night right after settling in for the second half of the Cowboys-Giants football game. She made a lot of great points, but maybe she should have been paying attention also. After all, she knows I’m a big Cowboys fan. But, her points were on target, so I maintained eye contact throughout the “discussion”, actively listened and took her suggestions to heart.

4. Tell Her How You Feel – When something’s wrong with a relationship guys often choose one of two courses of action. They do something about it or they leave. I’m not suggesting men are well adjusted in this area, but it’s usually how we roll. We’re not very good at addressing relationship issues. We try to fix things instead of discussing what’s wrong, the way women do. Men can work wonders if they listen with an open mind and express how they feel at the appropriate time. That’s not too much to ask.

Couple Threatened to Kill Their Daughter for Refusing Forced Marriage

A couple in London has threatened their daughter that they willkill her if she reject a marry they are trying to force her into, they also threatened to behead if she attempt to report the case to the authorities. Crimes Central reports:

A judge has since granted a temporary forced marriage protection order, banning the parents from leaving Britain, after the local authority in Croydon, London, said it ‘did not trust them an inch’ and feared younger children in the family would be spirited out of England if they were able to leave.

The girl, known as S, claims she suffered repeated violence at the hands of her parents and grandmother as a teenager and was told she would be killed if she refused to marry abroad as this would ‘bring dishonour on the family.

She described a long history of being put under pressure to marry, and when she spoke to authorities in 2005 about suffering ‘violence and intimidation’ from her family she claimed her mother said her father would ‘cut her head off’ if she ever raised issues again.

During a hearing at the Family Division of the High Court, Mr Justice Holman granted a temporary forced marriage protection order until next month.

Tinubu Blinded By Appetite For Power – Presidency

The presidency has described Former Governor of Lagos State and leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an anarchist for calling for the resignation of President Goodluck Jonathan, over insecurity in Nigeria.

“The suggestion by one of the leaders of the All Progressive Congress, Senator Bola Tinubu that President Goodluck Jonathan resign from office as a result of the activities of insurgents in the North Eastern part of the country, has once again shown beyond doubt that the former Lagos state Governor and his colleagues in the opposition are a bunch of political anarchists and charlatans blinded by an unbridled appetite for power,” said Doyin Okupe, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Public Affairs, in Abuja Thursday stressed that it was clear that Tinubu and other leaders in the APC who made the statement were merely seeking to enthrone anarchy in the country.

“The assertion by Senator Tinubu at a political rally in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday that in “civilized” societies, the President should have resigned is unfounded and lacking in historical precedence.

“We challenge him to tell Nigerians which part of his “civilized” world has there been a call on a President to resign during an on-going war.

“When terrorists attacked the United States of America in September, 2001, leaders of the Democratic Party did not demand a resignation of President George Bush but rather they rose in defence of the American Nation to support the various measures taken by the President to defeat the Al Qaeda terrorists.

“It is perhaps necessary to remind the APC leader that it was leading members of his party who vehemently opposed and openly criticized the proscription of the Boko Haram sect by the Federal Government in 2013 with some of them even going as far as describing it as a move against the North while others tried to incite the Civil Society to condemn this anti-terrorists act.

“It is therefore unfortunate that the APC, in its desperation for power and eagerness to make selfish political gains from insecurity, has shown a total lack of the spirit of Nationalism and statesmanship in its public comments on the challenges of insurgency in the North East.

“It is particularly sad that leaders of the APC would mount every available podium to pour invectives on the President and ridicule members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria who are in the battlefield of the war against terror in the North East of this country.

“Telling the President to resign because of an ongoing insurgency is the height of insensitive, indecorous and bad politics which ought to be roundly condemned by every Patriotic Nigerian.

“We wish to the remind the likes of Senator Tinubu that by the provisions of the Nigerian constitution, the only recognized means of changing a government is through the electoral process which comes every four years.

“If the APC leader has a problem about the chances of his political party winning an election, as he obviously does, he should not resort to brigandage, rather we will advise that they go back to the drawing board to rewrite their lack-luster, ill-defined and uninspiring manifestoes and see if they can sell it to the Nigerian public side by side with the well-articulated, dutifully executed and widely acclaimed Transformation Agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan,” the statement read.

Synagogue Building Collapse: Police Allege Sabotage

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ikotun Police Station, CSP Haruna Alaba has told the Coroner’s Inquest set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collapse of a guest house at the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), on September 12 that there is possibility of sabotage.

“One of the things being looked into is the possibility of sabotage, structure defect and security concern, we are considering every issue raised,” said Alaba, who stated that investigation into the collapsed building is still on at the State CID, Yaba area of Lagos.

“The police is investigating the possibility of the aircraft having anything to do with the collapsed building. I never at any time requested for the plan of the building.

“My investigation has not gotten to stage of getting name and contact of the contractor, so I never at any time requested for it. I did not request for the original CCTV footage of the incident either. Nobody complained to us about the aircraft hovering. Nobody is a complainant and nobody was arrested,” CSP Alaba said.

Further in his testimony, the DPO told the Inquest that policemen were at the collapse site to provide an enabling environment for rescuers.

“On getting to the scene of the collapsed building some minutes after the incident, I met rescue operations already on while policemen on duty around the area cordoned off the area to ward off suspected hoodlums from hijacking the situation.

“Most of the things said by the emergency rescuers were not true. I know that the enabling environment was provided for LASEMA and NEMA. What they are saying is not true. I allowed them to work freely at the site. The people we allowed in were officials of government agencies. NEMA and LASEMA and they never complained to the police that members of the church and the crowd prevented them from carrying out rescue operation.

“I will be surprised to hear that they (NEMA and LASEMA) were prevented from working on the first day. The church members started the operation but I cannot say the extent at which NEMA or LASEMA took charge. Church members crawled under rubble to bring out people trapped,“ the witness said.

The Coroner’s Inquest was adjourned till November 19 for continuation of police evidence while Prophet T.B. Joshua is expected to appear on November 20.

Adamwa Gov Cries For Help As Boko Haram Take 5 LGAs

Adamawa State Governor James Ngillari has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to save his state from being overrun by Boko Haram insurgents, as the insurgents have already taken control of over five local governments in the state.

Ngilari, who was at the Presidential Villa in his call for help, spoke with State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with the President, disclosed that Boko Haram are now in control of five local governments five local governments out of the 21 in the state. He therefore called on military authorities to deploy more troops to the state.

“The security situation in Adamawa is very dicey right now and we are only trying to do our best to manage the situation. We are praying that it will improve, but it is really something to worry about,” Ngillari said.

The governor, while speaking further on the activities of the terrorists in the state, said “I can talk of my entire senatorial district, Mubi senatorial district. Five local governments have been overrun; Gombi was taken and I just got a report now that perhaps they are on the outskirts of Shanli.

“There is a semblance of movement in that area. Really, we need a lot of intervention. We need to move more troops to secure the state. Really, it is a big challenge.”

The take over of Vimtim, hometown of Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh, by insurgents had last week made headlines, but Ngillari said the issue of insurgency is much more than one person.

“We shouldn’t reduce this issue of the insurgency to simply the taking over of the house of the defence chief. There are a whole lot of things that make the challenge of insecurity. What about the problem of unemployment? You know it is a whole long story. We don’t just reduce it to the taking over of the house of the defence chief. I think it is more than that. Absolutely it is a challenge. We look up to God, God is there, there is nothing impossible for Him.

“We will do our best, but it is not something that we should leave in the hands of government. Everybody has a role to play in terms of giving out information timely, in terms of convincing people who are involved. They live with us, they are not from planet Mars, they are part and parcel of the society,” the governor said.

He expressed optimism that the country will overcome its insecurity problems and end insurgency in the country.

How Wilson Oruma Battled With Insanity After Being Duped Of N1.2 Billion Naira

There are reports which just surfaced online that former Golden Eagles Captain/Super Eagles star player, Wilson Oruma, lost his mind for two years while battling with insanity after he was duped by fraudsters introduced to him by a Lagos-based frontline Pentecostal Pastor, (name withheld) whose church (name withheld) is located in the Surulere area of the state.

In a report by New Telegraph Online,Oruma’s travail started in 2012 when the Pastor in question invited the former victorious Golden Eaglets captain to a private meeting in the church to discuss the possibility of investing heavily into what he described as a lucrative business where he promised to invite the mega bucks investors to the church a week later. A date was fixed for this.

It was at the second meeting, it was gathered that the former Atlanta 96 Olympic gold medallists was introduced to some well-dressed gentlemen who were said to be in possession of some oil blocks they were ready to sell to the rich ex-international. Oruma, who acted alone without consultation with any of his lawyers and his close friend, Mr. Emakpor Dibofun, believed the story of the fraudsters and never suspected any foul play as they were introduced by his Pastor.

He was advised to invest heavily so as to yield heavy profit. The two-time African Nations Cup bronze medallist, withdrew funds from all his investments across Europe in three months and withdrew his life savings to ensure he pumped enough money into the oil business. He did not suspect any foul play as the Pastor kept assuring him that, the people are credible and are God fearing business investors.

In all, Oruma paid a whopping N1.2billion into the dedicated bank account given to him to make payments which he did over six months. The ex-soccer star that played alongside Frank Ribery and Samir Nasri in his days at Olympique Marseille FC of France started suspecting foul play when he did not hear from the people again and they failed to pick their mobile phones on days scheduled for important updates. He ran to his Pastor for possible succour and reassurance that all was well, but instead the Pastor rebuffed Oruma and told him that, he was a full-time minister of God who knew nothing about oil business, but only introduced him to those he believed could help make his business empire larger.

The Pastor asked if he was involved in the business dealings all the while and the answer was a capital no. He thus divorced himself from any blames leaving the soccer star to lick his own wounds but he was not strong enough to withstand the attendant psychological pressure. A few weeks after this ordeal, Oruma started behaving funny. He started talking to himself and had hot altercations with his wife at their Victoria Garden City home in Lagos.

It was gathered that, it was after one of the series of altercations with his wife who blamed him for the family’s misfortune and huge loss of money that Oruma busted out of their home in VGC and stormed a popular supermarket where he destroyed valuables. He was wrestled to the floor, with his legs and hands tied to avoid further destruction.

From this day in 2012, Oruma’s unstable mind became pronounced. His close friend, Emakpor with his hands and legs tied took the soccer star to a church in Warri, Delta state for spiritual healing. After destroying valuables in the church, Oruma escaped to his VGC home in Lagos where he continued to disturb residents. It was also learnt that with his unstable mind, he gave out one of his expensive SUVs worth N14million to a friend who speedily drove away the vehicle.

To avoid further embarrassments of VGC residents, Oru-ma’s family agreed to take him to his Suru-Lere home near Brown Street in Aguda, Lagos where secret treatments continued. He was first taken to the church where he was duped, which was nearby his Aguda home. Here, the culprit pastor after some failed attempts to heal the player advised that he should be taken back home as Oruma had been hit by a strange mental illness which defiled all known treatments.

The ex-international was tied and closely monitored in his Aguda home for over one year as the family sought spiritual healing for him. The player, who started his football career at Tamuno Babes FC of Warri, was not taken to an orthodox mental hospital in his family’s attempt to conceal his ailment from the public.

Oruma suffered untold hardship for two years as his family with the help of his close friend and former teammate, Emakpor Dibofun, took him to number Pentecostal churches in Lagos seeking spiritual healing. The much desired healing eventually came few weeks ago when he was given a clean bill of health as he overcame the mental illness. He has started walking again as the sores on his legs from long period of being tied down in one place are healing fast.

In the words of Oruma’s kid brother, Dominic a former Golden Eaglets and Flying Eagles goalkeeper; “Wilson is recovering fast, he now recognizes his family members and he has returned to his house in VGC under the care of his wife. We are very happy about this. It was not easy seeing him suffer so much in the last two years after his money was taken away. We give God the glory for the gift of healing.

“He has told us not to press charges against the pastor who brought fraudsters to dupe him heavily as he said the incident is now in the past. Another good thing is that all his properties are intact and most of his major investments are doing fine.” Oruma was captain of the Nigeria Under-17 team that won the 1993 FIFA U-17 World Cup where he emerged the tournament’s top goal scorer with six goals. He played 19 international matches over 11 years for Nigeria and was part of the team that participated in the 1998 FIFA World Cup, where he scored in the only appearance he made in the tournament against Paraguay. He was also a part of the squad that won the Olympic gold medal in 1996, a year after he debuted for Nigeria.

He played for the Eagles at the 2002 and 2006 Africa Cup of Nations, finishing both competitions at third place. Oruma played most of his club career in France, after arriving at RC Lens in 1994. He was loaned to Nancy a year after. He returned to Lens and played in their 1997-98 Ligue 1 title campaign.

He moved to Turkish side Samsunspor in 1998 and returned to France one year later to play for Nîmes. In 2000, he was transferred to Swiss side Servette, played two seasons before coming back to France again, where he played until 2009 for Sochaux, Marseille and Guingamp, winning the 2003-04 Coupe de la Ligue with Sochaux and the 2008-09 Coupe de France title with Guingamp. The former Nigerian international announced his retirement from football at the age of 33 on November 26, 2010.

He last played his international football for Kavala FC of Greece, before bidding farewell to football

Gunmen Kill FRSC Marshals After Kogi Prison Break

Two officers of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) have been killed by unknown gunmen in Koton Karfe community in Kogi.

Sector Commander of the FRSC in Kogi, Godwin Omiko confirmed the killing on Wednesday in a chat with newsmen in Lokoja, Kogi State capital.

Omiko identified the officers as Olaoluwa Adebayo and Adesina Iyanda, who were both shot by the same armed bandits, who on November 2, attacked Koton Karfe Prison and set 144 inmates. The officers, according to him, were among six officers on night duty at the FRSC office on the day of the attack.

As the insurgents attacked the town, shooting sporadically, officers of the FRSC were said to have ran in several directions to get cover. The two officers, Adebayo and Iyanda hid in a nearby bush, but were unfortunate to be sighted by the gunmen, who went away with them.

Search for the men commenced on Monday, but the search efforts did not pay off until Tuesday evening when a local discovered their corpses.

“The woman perceived odour and saw flies all over. She later traced the odour to a spot where she used a stick to scratch the ground and saw a body,” said Omiko.

The woman was said to have raised the alarm that attracted other villagers, who followed the woman back to the spot in the company of some FRSC officials and policemen.

Omiko said the bodies of the officers were found in a shallow grave, with gun wounds seen indicating they were shot in the head at close range.

“They removed their uniforms before shooting them; they used their lineyard and shoe laces to tie their hands and legs.

“We saw bruises all over their bodies indicating that they were dragged over a distance before being killed,” the FRSC Commander explained.

The bodies of the FRSC officers had since been deposited at the Ankuri Hospital morgue in Lokoja.

Sola Salako examines Dangote’s cement price cut

It’s been making headlines as Dangote Cement has just announced a slash in its cement price, from a whooping N1700 per bag to N1000 per bag.

Popular Tv Presenter, Sola Salako has this to say about the new price slash.

“I hear Dangote just singlehandedly, crashed the price of cement to N1,000 from N1,700! Obviously, this is another move in the attempt to stifle competition coming on the heels of getting SON to re-grade cement classification in its favour via political patronage.

While this seems like a benefit for consumers in the short term, I fear it is very inimical to growth in that sector in the long term. The few competing brands may eventually close down if they don’t survive the price war after emerging bruised from the pseudo classification battle. More unemployment looms…

Just as Dangote has the singular power to determine pricing downwards, who will challenge him when he pushes price to N3,000 after he has successfully run competition out of the market? This is akin to a rat nibbling away at your feet and blowing soothing air so you don’t feel it…until it hits blood!

Nothing to rejoice about here if we are long term oriented people, unfortunately, Nigerians are not, so….”

Do you agree with her?

Champions League A-D: Real & Dortmund Through to Last 16

Real Madrid qualified for the knockout stage of the Uefa Champions League after edging Liverpool by a lone goal at the Santiago Bernebeu on Tuesday.

Borussia Dortmund are also through to the round of 16 following a 4-1 home win over Galatasaray. Arsenal now need just a point from their remaining two matches to join the German outfit in the next round after blowing a 3-0 lead away, at the Emirate Stadium to draw 3-3 with Anderlecht.

Veteran midfielder Andreas Pirlo scored a delight of a goal from deadball as Juventus earned a valuable win over Olympiakos.

Spanish champions Atletico Madrid climbed to the summit of Group A after a 2-0 win over Malmo.

Group A
Malmo 0-2 Atletico

Hosts Malmo managed plenty of shots but failed to convert them as last season’s finalists Atletico grabbed a vital win to move top of their pool.

Koke placed Diego Simeone’s men ahead on the half-hour mark, when he raced into the penalty area to flick home a cross from Juanfran Torres.

Raul Garcia doubled the Spanish side’s lead in the 78th minute after some sluggish defending by the home team.

Atletico moved three points clear at the top of the standings on nine points, six points ahead of the Swedish club.

Juventus 3-2 Olympiakos

Italian champions Juventus edged an entertaining game in Turin courtesy of Paul Pogba’s winner 6 minutes after the hour mark.

Pirlo, who was making his 100th appearance in the Champions League, opened scoring for the ‘Old lady’ in the 21st minute looping a stunning free-kick past goalkeeper Roberto from 25 yards.

The Greek champions responded three minutes later, as defender Alberto Botía arrowed a header into the far corner.

DR Congo midfielder Delvin N’Dinga pulled the visitors ahead on the hour mark but Massimiliano Allegri’s men turned the game on its head in a minute, with Roberto scoring an own goal on 65 minutes and Pogba sealing three points 60 seconds later.

Despite the win, Juve trail Olympiakos in third place on goal-difference as both teams are tied on six points.

Group B

Basel 4-0 Ludogorets

Basel climbed to second after a comfortable 4-0 thrashing of Ludogorets Razgrads at St. Jakob-Park.

First-half strike by 17-year-old Breel Embolo set the tone for an emphatic win. It was the teenage forward’s first goal in Europe’s elite competition. He also teed up Shkelzen Gashi for the Swiss champions third.

Derlis Gonzalez doubled the hosts’ lead four minutes to the break and Marek Suchy completed scoring for Paulo Sousa’s team- a second home victory from as many matches.

Basel maintain a three point cushion in second-place ahead of Liverpool and Ludogorets, whose only win came a fortnight ago in the first leg of this tie.

Real Madrid 1-0 Liverpool

Reigning champions Real advanced into the knockout stages of the Champions League with two more matches to spare as Karim Benzema broke Liverpool’s resilience to maintained his goal-scoring prowess.
The win was Carlo Ancelotti men’s fourth on the trot so far in the group stages and their 17th in their last 19 Champions League matches.

A much-rested Liverpool 11, which sat back, soak pressure and waited to no avail for a chance to counter the ‘Los Blancos’, were praiseworthy for their defensive capabilities.

Benzema broke the deadlock just before the half-hour, stretching at full stride to turn Marcelo’s cross at the far post.

With Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet and co at their best on the night, Cristiano Ronaldo was denied several opportunities of grabbing that solitary goal required of him to equal Raul Gonzalez’s competition record of 71 goals, but it was goalkeeper Iker Casillas who attained another laudable landmark having made a record 144th appearance in the competition on the night.

Liverpool need win their remaining two matches to stand a chance of advancing into the last 16.

Group C

Zenit 1-2 Leverkusen

Bayern Leverkusen retained poll position as Heung-Min Son’s second-half brace secured a 2-1 win at Zenit St. Petersburg earlier on Tuesday.

Son broke the deadlock in the 70th minute, lashing home one-time from inside the far post an assist from Germany international Karim Bellarabi following a Hakan Calhanoglu disguised free-kick.

The South Korean doubled his tally moments later, holding off the challenge of Domenico Cristico to slot the ball past goalkeeper Yuri Lodygin.

Jose Rondon netted a late consolation for Zenit but it was too little to deter the Bundesliga outfit from their third straight win in Europe’s elite competition.

Benfica 1-0 Monaco

Portuguese giants Benfica left it late to seal a vital three point at home to Moncao. Brazilian midfielder Talisca broke the deadlock with eight minutes left to the dead, heading home from a corner at the far post.

Benfica have now recorded four points from as many matches and sits bottom of the standings while Monaco are second with five points- three points shy of leaders Leverkusen.

Group D

Arsenal 3-3 Anderlecht

Arsenal watched a 3-0 lead slip as Aleksander Mitrovic’s last-minute header leveled scores for the visiting Anderlecht on the nick of full-time.
Mikel Arteta converted from the penalty spot after Danny Welbeck was bundled over by Chancel Mbemba.

In-form Alexis Sanchez doubled the Gunners’ lead four minutes later, smashing a volley past Silvio Proto’s into the bottom right corner of goal after his free-kick had bounced back to him off the wall.

Arsenal increased the tempo of the game in the second-half and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain added the third two minute to the hour mark, when he raced clear down the left and blasted into the far corner a low shot.

With the rain pouring down at the magnificent Emirates Stadium, Anderlecht fought their way back into the contest. First Anthony Vanden Borre tapped in substitute Andy Kawaya’s low cross, before the defender then thumped home a penalty after Nacho Monreal had hauled down Mitrovic.

Mitrovic sealed a deserved point for the Belgian outfit in the 90th minute, guiding Andy Najar’s well-weighted cross into the net via a diving header.

Third-placed Anderlecht must now win their remaining games and hope Arsenal lose theirs to stand a chance of progressing.

Borussia Dortmund 4-1 Galatasaray

Marco Reus After Scoring the Opener Against Gala. Image: AFP.

Dortmund marched on to the second round of the European Champions League for a third consecutive season following a 4-1 win over Galatasaray.
The 2012-13 finalists maintained their 100 per cent record in the competition to advance as Marco Reus, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Ciro Immobile and an own goal from Semih Kaya all but end Galatasaray’s hopes of a last 16 berth.

Hakan Balta’s consolation in the wake of Papastathopoulos’ effort was insufficient for the Istanbul side. Galatasaray could nonetheless do themselves some good, batting it out with Anderlecht for qualification into the Uefa Europa League.

Nigeria’s Foreign Reserve Now N6.3trn – Okonjo-Iweala

Nigeria’s foreign reserve currently stands at $38 billion (N6.3 trillion), according to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.

The Minister, who spoke yesterday in Abuja, at the Public Affairs Forum organised by the office of Doyin Okupe, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to President Goodluck Jonathan, gave assurance that the economy was stable and the Gross Domestic product, GDP, was growing at over 6 percent.

“One of the key things I want to tell you is that we have tried to keep this economy stable under this administration. All these things you are seeing – the investments in roads, the investments in industries cannot happen if your economy lacks stability.

“If you wake up worrying about inflation; if you wake up worrying about exchange rate, you know Nigerians watch the exchange rate every single day. If you wake up worrying about no growth then you cannot even talk about investing in the sector.

“So the number one task that every government delivers in every country- America, UK, Nigeria- is stability. One thing you have to say for the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan is that it has been able to deliver on macro-economic stability for the past three years.

“The exchange rate, yes, it has gone up and down, it fluctuates, but it has been relatively stable. The inflation rate has come down from about 12 per cent last year to about 8.5 per cent. The reserves are at $38 billion today and enough to cushion us for 5 months<" Okonjo-Iweala said.

She added that the country had also been able to shore up its Excess Crude Account. @We have been able to put a little more into the Excess Crude Account," the minister said, adding that Nigeria’s fiscal deficit is one of the world's lowest at just over 1 percent of GDP.

While she noted that the present administration in the country has worked hard to cut down borrowing from N1.3 trillion in 2010 to N571 billion in 2014, the minister said the government will continue working to reduce it further. "The debt stock is very high because of past borrowing but will continue to bring it down. That means we must be prudent in the way we spend and we must also be very fast to try to organize additional revenues”.

The minister admitted Nigeria's over-dependence on oil revenue, a situation which has put the country on the edge as global oil prices continue to fall, as well as declining crude oil production/ She therefore stressed the need for the country to expand its non-oil revenue as a matter of urgency.

"We are too depending on oil. The price of oil is now coming down. The quantities are also not as large as they used to be. So we have to plan differently. That is why we have to rely more on non-oil.
